Strength:

the lens roughness(strong camera) its a canon flash mount

Weakness:

too slow eats batteries

When i should choose a digital cam i just rented this canon g1 and had it for a try a couple of days. its a very very good camera even though its >old>technology with only about 3 mill pix e..q. its NOT the pix that counts alone this G1 have a wonderfull lens of very fine quality!remember that!! the glass is very important!! so if you got the time and dont need a fast camera and are able to get this G1 for a cheap price-get it.It is a very good camera ! For my purpose i had chosen the G2,Pro 90 and G5(all Canon) and im happy with that!

flash function is limited. At M mode on camera, the flash fires full power.

Bought is camera in singapore. Nice digital that packs a punch! I have been shooting Canon SLR for 4yrs, I''m used to Canon control. this camera packs all the control I need! Able to use E-TTL speedlites external flash is a plus! Sent pics to print at professional shop came back stunning! Friends cannot believe its taken by Digiatal camera.

I''ve used the camera for various purposes at varioius places around the world and it''s never let me down. It''s great for snapshots with friends as well as manually set scenic pics. The prints come out fantastic about 98%, the other 2% I wish I had taken it with a film camera. Despite a lot of cameras out in this price range, I''d still recommend this to either those who are beginners who want to experiment and grow into advanced photography or those advanced photographers who still want a simple point/shoot from time to time.

Strength:

Small, light, unobtrusive. Amazingly versatile for a point and shoot platform. Full range of auto and manual modes. Tack sharp lens. Compatible with my 550 EX flashes.

Weakness:

Horrible focus lock and lag time. Constantly missing the critical moment. Grainy at all ISO speeds compared to the D30 and my friends G2''s.

Pleased with the convenience of digital in a small easy to carry package. No contest compared to my film cameras (EOS 1V, Rebel 2000, Canon A1) or to my D30. I loved this camera a lot more until I got the D30 :-)

Strength:

Very flexible. Excellent lens. Excellent detail. Excellent colour balance in natural light.

Weakness:

Some bias towards cyan in artificial lights. Quite obvious blooming in black/white edges (or ? chromatic aberration).

I''ve used the G1 for approx 3 months. Easy to learn and use. I''m very happy with the purchase. I considered the Olympus 3040 prior to the G1 but I''m glad I went with the G1. Very flexible. Can be an auto everything or manual everything camera.

Strength:

Takes pictures with no jaggies. Printed by digital machines in 4R size will produce extremely sharp and clear pictures.

Weakness:

Needs a grip on the right side of the camera. Exposure system is kind of basic as simple backlighting will throw it off.

Great Picture Quality for a 3+ Megapixel (among the best in this category), Good viewfinder accuracy, Swivel LCD monitor great features - Protects the LCD when you''re not using it, RAW mode is fantastic space saver but no quality is sacrificed. Ability to use external TTL flash is also a great boon to real photographers as they will find the inbuilt flash weak.
