    Strength:

best money per value, XD card, X 6 optical zoom, 3.2MP.

    Weakness:

too basic manual options, 400 ISO, impossible to take a "sports" pictures without direct sun lite.

Great digital for beginners, SLR looks, a lot of accessories for that type of camera.

    Strength:

    (1) strong zoom (6x), (2) good macro (3) picture quality and resolution good enough for 20x30 cm prints (4) battery life

    Weakness:

    (1) shutter lag: as most low budget digital cameras, impossible to use for action shots (2) construction: lens cap (mentioned many times in other reviews ...) putting the camera in its protection case (not standard delivered with the camera) should be done carefully or it will switch on the camera, the slot of the battery compartment is constructed weak as well. (3) when saving pictures in FinePixViewer (pc software that comes with the camera), that's always done to the same directory which means I have to browse over and over again to put pictures in the directory I want. Irritating.

First step into digital photography after using a Canon EOS300 (Rebel 2000) for about 3 years. Picture quality, zoom and macro are fine. Construction is rather weak. Xd-cards are (at least in Europe) expensive compared to SM or CF. Note: price paid is in €

    Strength:

Great size! 6X Optical zoom is great! Controls are large enough for use with larger hands. Weight (has a solid feel to it) 55mm adapter ring so one can add filters, etc. Uses AA bateries (big thumbs up!) Easy menu - once you have played a bit with it. Uses new xD picture cards.

    Weakness:

Some trouble with auto focus in low light. Does NOT come with AC adapter. (optional) Software just OK. Comes with 16MB xD picture card, needs a bigger one. 16 is just a tease.

My first real digital camera. And Boy did I pick a great one. First learned about it from a friend. Then read reviews here, and thought it was a good camera. Then came the icing on the cake, Consumer Reports rated it number 1 for the 2-3 Megapixel catagory!!(May 2003 issue) That's all I needed to read. Went out the next weekend and got one. It's taken a little getting used to, but once I used it for about an hour I was like old hand. The pictures I've taken have been GREAT! For one of my first pics, my cat. It was so clear, you could see the moisture on his nose and the fine hairs around the tips of his ears. WOW! In a nutshell...Great little camera!

    Strength:

Major Easy to Use! Manual mode appears to be a huge advantage over other cameras in the same price range. Optical zoom is a big plus, too.

    Weakness:

Why wont the lens cap stay on?

I want to use this camera for action shots , but I can't get the timing right. I thought that the continuous mode would solve my problem - but it only gives you two shots!
