Strength:

Well, very cheap today.

1.4 Megapixels! Whoo-Hoo!

Can used 16MB or 32MB SmartMedicards, don't know about the higher capacities.

4 AA batteries

Decent picture quality, at least as good as most of today's smart/cell/obnoxious phones.

If you don't mind carry around a small SLR sized body it could make a decent snapshot camera even today.

Has a buffer so it can take a shot about every second or so; this was a big improvement over the earlier models that wrote straight to the card and took up to 8 seconds between shots.

Weakness:

Old and slow

SmartMedia cards have been obsolete for some time and are at the point the prices are starting to go up on used ones.

The viewfinder has an adjustment but it always seems a little off, like being at the eye doctor and they flip the lenses around--how does this look?

Can't really do much besides take basic photos, no movies, no advanced features, no interchangeable lenses.

The dreaded motorized zoom, which always seems a little too close or too far. These are also a prime failure point in cameras. I can see compacts with a retractable lens needing them, but something this size could have used a cheaper and more reliable manual zoom.

The D-620L is the last of the "D" series SLR's Olympus made. Spec wise it was pretty good for 1999-ish, but it still has the same limitations the 500 and 600 did, namely a pricey SLR format with limited controls. The picture quality for the time was actually pretty good, and the higher resolution does help, shots look more like pictures than webcam captures.
