Excellent little camera for someone who doesn't want the hassle of manual controls. I've used mine over 2 years now to compliment my Canon SLR and have not been disappointed. The video is not excellent but it is acceptable for its price when used with at least a memory card of at least 256mb. Also as with other digital cameras, low light can be a problem if you are out of the range of its auto flash. I just purchased another digital, a Canon S3, and I think my little Kodak DX4530 will outshoot it in picture quality and detail. For the price I don't think you will be disappointed.

    Strength:

When pictures do turn out (which is rare), they look pretty good.

    Weakness:

Cannot take a decent photo unless the subject is completely still and in natural sunlight.

The Kodak EasyShare DX4530 is a terrible camera. For a long while I thought that I was doing something wrong. Now I realize that the camera is simply junk. I regret purchasing it and I wish that I had returned it within the timeframe where the store would accept a return. Now I'm stuck with this camera and can hardly take one single decent photo without a tripod. I can't begin to tell of the precious family moments and business related photos that have been lost due to the poor quality of this camera. I'll never buy Kodak again -- this camera should not have been released to the public.

    Strength:

Easy change through different modes, flash modes, and menu selection. Great photos when a good one is taken.

    Weakness:

Photos taken in any mode other than action mode are blurry. In door pictures are generally dark and unusable unless there is adequate ambient light.

Overall picture quality is good when I get a good picture. Without a tripod the picture quality tends to be blurry, especially when taking zoomed photos. Best quality is in action mode all others are terrible. Without a card reader the Kodak software must be used. There were 25 instances of back wed malware installed onto my computer. Software that came with the camera didn't work with Windows 2000 pro.

    Strength:

Ease of use, ease of use, ease of use. Cannot say anymore, the strength of this camera is the ease of use and secondly the price.

    Weakness:

If there is one I have not found it yet.

I love the camera so far, this is an upgrade from another Kodak DC215. It was time to upgrade and I toyed with Sony, Canon, Olympus and Fuji and still came back to Kodak. For a 5mp camera you cannot bet the price and it does all that the others do for half the cost. You will not be disappointed. I bought the Best Buy Product warranty to protect my investment. I recommend this to anyone, the cost for 4 years is only 39.99 can beat that for peace of mind.

    Customer Service

Best Buy has the best product warranty around. My recommendation is to buy at Best Buy and purchase their warranty for 39.99 for a full 4 years.

    Strength:

Compact, menu very easy to understand/use, large screen to see/review photos, software is one of the easiest to use.

    Weakness:

Time between pictures taken. About 5-7 seconds. Can feel like forever when you're trying to snap off a couple quick shots.

Owned a Kodak 1.3 MP before and was ready for the upgrade. The DX4530 is worth every penny spent. Many features to keep even the pros busy. I take this camera everywhere I go and so far 100% of my pictures have turned out wonderful. Extremely difficult to make a mistake and fun to learn from the few that are made.
