Strength:

Great image quality from a compact digital camera.
Sturdy design.

Weakness:

Less pocketable than newer ultracompact designs
Smallish LCD by today's standards

The P200 is a competent little camera. My wife bought this camera to have something more portable than our Sony F717 and old Canon AE-1 film SLR. Long story short, both of us were very impressed with the image quality of the camera, particularly for its size and class. I found that images taken with the P200 were sharper and cleaner than those taken with my friend's comparable Canon Elph digital compact camera. There is a limited number of manual controls available - aperture and shutter priorities, which my friend's Canon compact digital camera lacked. When the images are properly exposed, there is low noise at lower ISO. At higher ISO the noise increases substantially, but no more so than other compact digital cameras. The images taken were nice enough that my mother asked to have the camera. My wife ended up replacing her P200 with the Sony T2 (which honestly does not come close in terms of image quality).

Strength:

See above.

Weakness:

Reliability. I got this camera because my 18-month old one was considered beyond economic repair by my insurers. The lens was not retracting without physical assistance when the camera was turned off. My 3-month old replacement looks like it will very soon be doing the same - and I do not mistreat my cameras.

This camera is a delight. When it works it is ideal for my purposes - apart from the limited zoom range that all compacts suffer from and unimpressive lens quality where close-ups are concerned. It's small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, fast, accurate for exposure and focus and colour. But the barrel distortion if I photograph a book I'm trying to sell or a painting of my wife's is disturbing.

Strength:

7.2 Megapixel light and small fast easy to use

Weakness:

autofocus a little slow

I love this camera! I researched all cameras for 4 weeks before buying. I was unbiased with brands. When I saw the features on this camera, I was sold. It's extremely fast for a point and shoot camera. Very small too. My photography is almost all action shots, and this camera does really good for being so compact. I actually held it in my hand inside my snowboard mitt taking a few runs last year! The autofocus can be a little slow. Manual controls are pretty good. I bought a wide angle adapter, but don't use it much because it's bulky. I do a lot of backcountry mountain biking and snowboarding, so minimalist construction is important. The 7.2 megapixel resolution is awesome! I can crop my images down and still have very high resolution shots. I think this is my favorite feature on this camera. The camera has very good color. You can check my pics out at http://www.spudhucksters.com All the photos on the website are taken with this camera I bought it at Best Buy and got the 4-year warranty, so as long as I don't lose it, I can get a new one if anything happens to it (which it will with the abuse I inflict on it)
