Weakness:

battery life....flash stopped working within a year...

This camera was great for the price....batteries did run down quickly, though. The pics were fine for a camera in this price range. The problem I had was the flash...it just stopped working before it was a yr old. I really needed the flash so I researched and then bought a canon.

Strength:

great straight out of the box

Weakness:

batteries/shutter/lack of trouble shooting information online/no one on one with Kodak - you can't reply to their emails and the online contact address does not always work - it tends to freeze the Explorer

When I first got the camera, it was fantastic. The camera was very user friendly - all my pictures were clear. The problem started when the Kodak batteries that came with the camera died and I bought the Kodak rechargeables. Since putting in the new batteries, I have had nothing but trouble. The LCD screen stays black - the camera will still take pictures but it seems that the timer button is stuck (I've never used the timer) 'cause all the pictures have a 3 second wait before the shutter goes. I went on the Kodak site to try and find a solution but to no avail. The only information online is what is in the little booklet that comes with the camera. I sent an email off to Kodak and they replied with some things to try (same as what's in the book) and if that didn't work, then I was to take the camera in for repair. The camera is only 1 month old!! It should not have to go for repair so soon. I am now ready to throw it out the window and let everyone I know not to buy Kodak so called EasyShare.

Customer Service

Kodak customer service replied in reasonable timeframe but they need to have an email address that you can reply to so that they will know that the information that they are giving is no good. It makes one think that the person responding is just someone off the street with no actual camera repair experience. The information that was given to me is the same as in the book and online.

Strength:

Lots of special features that are easy to use if you sit down with the manual and practice. Fantastic outdoors--clarity, color, focus--Wow. Have 1 gig chip that allows you to take hundreds of photos with room to spare in the memory. Couple the camera, the memory card, rechargeble battery system--bought all of these items at Wal-Mart for around $260--and this camera blows away a couple of my friends' cameras Sony and Canon. Zoom is better. Price was better and higher MP. I shopped for quite a while and glad I bought this camera.

Weakness:

Limited flash in large room.--I suppose this is common complaint of small digital cameras with built in flash--No other weakness I can see.

Cool flash--not good with large dining room. Must be within 8 feet to get good lighting of subject. My 35mm has killer flash-guess I am spoiled.

Camera does fantastic job outside, even in patially cloudy conditions.

Excellent zoom and cropping abilities. Can turn photo of bird 50 feet away into a great close-up. Wife and I take walks in local parks bird watching. This is a great outdoor camera. Takes just a second for the auto focus to lock in and click you have a great photo that you can crop into an even greater close-up view of wildlife. I am an optometrist--lenses are my life. I bought this camera based on the fantastic optical zoom capabilities. The 8 MP foremat allows you to obtain clear, sharp, great color shots outside.

Inside I am disappointed with the flash--but plenty good enough for good birthday photos--just not as good as large flash on my old 35mm Minolta.

Customer Service

Have not needed help--Original salesperson at Wal-Mart had more product knowledge than sales people at Best Buy or Circuit City.

Strength:

ease of use
great color
easy menu access
manual control using PASM-c modes

Weakness:

I wish it had a view finder the LCD washes out in bright sunlight.

Easy to use and beautifuf color. This camera makes an average joe look darned good. All you have to do is compose the picture and the camera doew the rest. But if you want more control you have it through the menus and PASMC modes.
