Picture quality (for a point and shoot) is excellent (11x14s indistinguishable from SLR)
Amazing set of features for camera the size of deck of cards
Rugged and water-resistant.

Screen hard to see in outdoor light (I attached inexpensive, pop-out hood) This is problem with any non-viewfinder camera.
The plastic, accessory ring can "fuse" to an accessory lens or filter. (Suggest thin swipe of dielectric grease on threads.)
Not the greatest low-light camera, but no point and shoot is. Flash is good for fill or close shots.

Read the features at the Olympus site. I've found the camera lives up to what Olympus says about it.
The picture quality is excellent for a point and shoot, and I'm a retired photojournalist who used high-end SLRs for 30 years. The out of focus renditions may not be as pleasing as the very sophisticated programs on the high-end SLRs, but certainly acceptable. The "micro" feature is amazing for extreme closeups. In fact, the focal range, the F-2 aperature capability ... it has the features I require in any basic camera. Rides in my bike jersey pocket, toss it in the passenger seat or glove box, slips into dress pants pocket (I have big pockets;-} I'm satisfied ... actually blown away ... by this, my first, little digital point and shoot. Also have the accessory telephoto that gives me about 140mm (full frame 35mm equiv) which make for a great wide to medium tele range.

Customer Service

One glitch. Plastic accessory ring "fused" to a protective filter. I needed it to also use with the accessory telephoto. Olympus customer service has said they'll send me another one free.

Similar Products Used:

no similar digital point and shoot ... but many cameras, from 4x4 Speed Graphics to Kodak, Rollie, Nikon F through FM3, etc.
