    Strength:

Great design, lightweight, responsive, excellent resolution, yadda, yadda, yadda.

    Weakness:

The deal breaker - IT FREEZES up. Canon claims this is an issue as simple as a firmware upgrade, I tried the upgrade and now my camera barely functions at all. Its on the way back to the factory for warranty service. Very dissatisifed, and I wish I hadnt ever purchased it.

Works well, when it works. I wouldnt recommend it for a purchase. The $1499.99 price tag for an 8.2 MP camera is attractive, but Canon blew it on this one.

    Strength:

Fast fast fast ! 5 shots pr sec/ 23on the CF cards wauw! 9 pin points focus light and easy fast turn on lighter and easy t0o handle

    Weakness:

hmm still 1,6 factor hmm canon come on!?? why this silly jig!? small viewfinder smaller than d10? why?? the battery grip doesnt work with ordinary aa batteries ONLY very precise alkalines?? why? grrrr i have had some troubles that my cam goes out suddenly ? why? you cant soom properly when replaying your pics(as seen on the D10?!!) = why? why??

This is truly the best buy digital SLR camera for both professionals and serious amateurs! Simply i wish i had this wonderfull machine with me at the OL games in Athens June 2004!instead than the D10.Because of one fact ;it focus very very fine ; perfect! Its that simple than that. In short; let me explain;I think truly its one very important factor that a camera can autofocus precisely ! and due to my experience IT DOES ! very very precise indeed. The 9 focus shaped as an eye is a masterpiece, the little fingerfocus too,and so are the speed of handling and feel too.IT is IF you have a D1 mk 2 in hand so to speak, just in a minor package; for a photojournalist as i do for a living i also appreciate it turns on fast and that all the cameras speed (5 shots per second ;holy moses! wauw) and 23 on line..is amazing.;and works when I need it !!;Its all what you need and a little bit more! well,The Only thing that annoys me is that on this model you can not adjust the precise angle and crop or rezize when you zoom / repplaying your pics (side by sidewise)on the LCD screen as seen on the D10!; otherwise i think its worth the money IF you make money, If NOT buy the D10 or D60,D30.Or save it and buy a rangefinder digital camera instead.! Good done Canon.

    Strength:

    Fast Good resolution Metering

    Weakness:

Why the f*&K is there still no spot meter Flash shots are still grossly underexposed. Shutter is clunky Rushed to the market before complete

Seems like Canon may have rushed to satisfy all the "gotta have its" out there because this camera isn't quite done. Yes it performs very well when it is working. I was shooting a wedding and it just locked on me. This has happened to me before but this time I still couldn't get it to clear even after taking the batter out. I had to switch to my backup for the rest of the day. Very sad, because it is a very responsive camera, but this does nothing if you can't respond to a photo opportunity if the camera locks.

    Strength:

Image quality Well built, nice to touch and intuitive to use Full of features e.g. mirror lock up, black and white mode Pretty much everything you need is one button away

    Weakness:

Not splash and dust sealed like the pro models but hey, it's a lot cheaper. No spot metering Kit lens doesn't live up to the body

I decided to trade up my Canon FD system for a D-SLR pending some extended travelling as I won't have time to scan that many slides. I'm glad I did! My initial impression is that this is a fantastic camera. It's easy to use, all the photorgraphic controls but the exposure compentsation are obvious without looking at the manual. It's solidly built and feels better in the hand as the t90 I'm replacing. The images I've taken so far are good, even with the cheap and nasty feeling 18-55 kit lens, you can tell that they'll get even better when I replace some of my fave FD lenses. The battery life is excellent, I've shot 200 frames so far and it's still going strong.
