As someone who owns a land surveying company, having a reliable, workhorse camera is essential, and that is exactly what the EOS Rebel T3I has been for me and my team. We needed a DSLR to stay up with the times and the T3I was recommended to me by a close friend. The image quality and image stabilization features have been essential for us. We take the time to make sure all our surveying equipment is stable and set up properly, and that in and of itself is enough effort. Last thing I needed was to lug around an extra tripod to make sure we got clear images, I don't have time for that, and it's not a worry for me with the T3I.

Auto focus on video not quite on par with similar cameras

I began using the Canon Rebel t3i for my photobooth photo booth rental business in Vancouver, Sparks Photo Booth, and the image quality has been magnificant. In all our rentals our customers have raved about the high quality. Whichi in turn has helped us broaden our customer base and offer better deals and better rates. I've since upgraded but still use this for stills. Amazing camera for everyday shooting.

The focusing points on the viewfinder look like dirt spots.
Really.
There is this thin square line which is the AF sensor, then a dirt spot in the middle.
All nine of them.
Whoever conceived of using this dirt spot as a focusing point for Canon cameras should be fired by Canon.
It is so annoying, it looks like a mold spot on an old moldy lens.

To those who know what they are after in a DSLR, what they want out of a DSLR, this model has a lot to offer, and is a refreshing solution to their needs.
I will not repeat what has been said or what you can learn from information out there, rather, I will spell out what really gets me excited about this new model.

1. It has the same sensor as the 7D and the 60D.
To a lot of experienced photographers, that's what counts the most, only followed by the bells and whistles that are thrown in.
2. Articulated screen. For someone like me, who has been in the video and film movie industry for over 20 years, an articulated screen means a lot. It makes the ergonomics of this model closer to the feel of a pro video cam.
3. Full manual control of exposures in movie mode. That's Hollywood style.
4. Built in Wireless Flash trigger. It's like having a FREE wireless trigger inside the camera worth $250 to $300 dollars. You may not use it frequently, but it's always there.
5. Choice of Widescreen and Regular screen ratio with choices of Frame Rates for movies. Wow.
6. Ability to recognize the attached lens and compensate the lens errors. Yippee.
7. Entry level has never been like this. While other manufacturers "strip" cameras of features, Canon just keeps on improving this genre!
