    Strength:

Much better than the D1 which is still a good camera.
Digital noise greatly reduced in all ISO settings.
ISO 1600 is very much useable, ISO 800 looks better than ISO 400 with the D1.
    ISO settings in 1/3 stops.
Writes a lot faster, and no delay in viewing the image even in TIFF mode.
    Better and more accurate colors.
Comes with a clear screen cover [finally].

    Weakness:

Hopefully those rubber covers will hold up better than the D1.
ISO 100 or lower settings would be even better.
D1's CSM, QUAL, and L buttoms are slighty easier to get to than the D1H's MENU and FUNC buttoms.

If you are a photojournalist and /or sport shooter like myself, you would be happy with what the D1H can deliver, current D1 users would not be disappointed with the improvements. Shooters looking for bigger files under "more control" situations may want to look into the D1X [havn't open mine yet].

    Strength:

It is as good as advertised. Just like useing an F5. Great colour and printed picture quality at j-peg fine setting. Matrix metering. Simple, logical controls. Firewire.

    Weakness:

I wish it came in groovy colours. The nikon software is so/so.

I just got it and WOW, it does all I hoped and more. The printed results on a Olympus P-400 dye sub are astownding. I can now go to sports events and pint photo quality 8x10's from card to G4 powerbook to Printer to customer in under 3 mins. I can here the cash register already. I just need to find some simple fast software to go from slideshow to print and it's off to the races. As a sports and event guy the 5 frames a second for 40 frames is invalueable, this along with the higher ISO ratings than D1x make it a must have. Did I mention saving $5000 a year on film, yihaa.

    Strength:

    Build quality
    Frame speed
    Huge buffer

    Weakness:

    None so far

I love the feel of the camera. Very similar performance and handling to my F5. I have yet to test it for the true purpose it was bought for, which is shooting sports, but have found the results to be great so far even with portraiture and stuff. It has beautiful skintones.
I never thought I would say this as I resisted digital photography like the devil. I am now planning on selling all my medium format equipment and all my wet chemical and processing stuff to get a D1X and hopefully a home Dye Sub printer.
I would feel foolish recomending something which I have only had for a few weeks, but so far I am very pleased with the results and performance. I have given this camera a 4 star value rating because I still think all digital camera's are overpriced. Surely they are not worth twice the price of an F5
