A nice, simple SLR. Nice heavy brass body.
Weakness:
None so far. I bought the camera second hand and have owned it 2 years. This is a fantastic manual SLR. Only use this camera if you have time to set up a shot. Otherwise an auto focus camera is a better choice. Customer Service Too old to worry about. Similar Products Used: None |

I LOVE this camera. I learned photography on it and I would heartily recommend that anyone wanting to start photography begin with a manual like this one.
Weakness:
Lenses are not a standard size and are difficult to find. A good camera to start with, especially if you can find one with a couple of lenses to go with. Customer Service I haven't had any difficulty finding a repairman that can handle this one Similar Products Used: Canon AE, Nikon N60 |

Strength:
This camera is completely bulletproof. My current AE-1 was purchased in 1979 and inherited from a family member. That sums to 20 years of near-flawless performance, despite it having been somewhat abused and dropped several times by its former owner. (Lost a lens due to this damage, but the AE-1 shrugged it off any damage.)
Weakness:
Film retaining sprocket got a little sticky some years ago; tiny bit of silicon fixed it right up. Otherwise, zero problems from a 2 decade span. (Especially considering the thing went about 15 years without ever receiving proper basic maintenance or cleaning.) Still my workhorse 135 camera when I'm working non-AF (which is most of the time). I especially recommend it over any other to all novices; it's a great camera to learn on. Customer Service Never had to take it in. Similar Products Used: None |

Weakness:
Except for a broken battery lid which I easily fixed with superglue, no problems for 17 years. Great camera both for beginners and experinced users. Customer Service Haven't been neccesary. Similar Products Used: None, this is my first and only camera. |
