Canon EOS 650 35mm SLRs

Canon EOS 650 35mm SLRs

DESCRIPTION

Canon's first EOS camera had the latest technologies including a super microcomputer and a Canon-developed BASIS sensor for high-precision AF. The EOS 650 boasted incomparable autofocusing. Each EF lens has its own optimum built-in motor for autofocusing, and only electronic signals are exchanged between the lens and camera body. It is an ideal AF system.

Strength:

Everything about this canmera (EOS 650)is superb. BEST QUALITY PICTURES, and ease of use.

Weakness:

Non found so far

Bought the Canon EOS 650 with a 35-105 Lens, as used. I also have EOS 300. The quality of pictures taken with the EOS 650 is unbelievable. All the pictures taken are superb. My wife was amased with the results. The camera feels good and looks good. I have not yet tried the EOS 300 and have already made up my mind to use it as a THE EOS 650 may be Canon's first EOS series but to me it is modern built and fits well within the class of high-rated cameras of the 21st century.

My orginial purchase was about 20 years ago I paid $650.00 for the camera with 50mm lense, then I INVESTED IN a 100-300mm lense I loved this camera an ex-girl friend was pissed with our break up and stole the camera. so, about 8 yrs ago I was doing a live broadcast at a pawn shop and to my surprise there was the same exact camera ...Iam seeing things it was the eos 650, and without delay I bought it. I now own a digital camera, but I still use my eos 650. this pass weekend I was out BROWSING AND FOUND IN PERFECT CONDITION A 70MM-300MM ZOOM LENSE IAM READY NOW.

Strength:

Durability, - it fell off a table and bent the lens, but the camera is fine; autofocus (for when I can't).

Weakness:

I agree, it has trouble auto focusing in dim light, but that is what the manual setting is for!

* This price included an extra lens and a carrying case. Don't remember the base price. I love my little workhorse. I bought it new when it first came out and wouldn't give it up for anything. I have a digital and I still go back to my EOS more often than not. Took it to on all my travels even to Australia and got the most amazing pics. Once I had a migraine and could barely see but I let my camera focus for me and I got an award winning photo I don't even remember taking!

Customer Service

Strength:

Ergonomic, rugged, dependable, simple operation, EXCELLENT meter & easy to use spot meter, not over-comlpicated with useless features. Good price.

Weakness:

AF can struggle sometimes, lack of shutter-cable socket!!!!!, a little bulky, lack of programs (important to some but not me).

This was canon's first model AF camera (16 years ago!)& I think they did an amazing job because I still want to use it. Rugged, ergonomic & dependable my 650 has never let me down, even after dragging it around India & Nepal for 3 months without a case ! The only criticism I have is that the auto-focus struggles sometimes under low light. However Under such cercumstances it is usually better to go manual anyway. A friend of mine knocked it off a bar table right onto the concrete floor, prism first ! it left a small dent but the camera still worked great. Try that with some of the feather-light plastic specials you get these days. The canon AF primes are also sharp even if the cheaper canon zooms arn't that great. If you can score one for cheap, do so. If better auto-focus is imperetive then get a slightly later model such as the 630.

Casual

Strength:

rugged, heavy hard bodied not flimsy like the newer models

Weakness:

none that i can find yet

I recently bought this used camera on ebay a few weeks ago and i love it. Ive taken several rolls of film with it and got very good results. I dont seem to have a problem with af as many others seem to have and i really didnt notice the loud rewind noise it makes. I love the rugged heavy body of this camera as i have a rebel 2000 and the 650 looks like it can knockout my 2000 in the first round. Im thinking of selling my rebel 2000 in the future and just keeping my 650 for my next vacation trip to the north central united states.

Casual

Strength:

Can't beat what I paid for it, when your friends lose bets, hang around them when they need to sell stuff for money!! Almost all the functions you can want from a SLR if you're a casual to intermediate shooter. Pretty sturdy until my accident. Quality results with minimal experience. In Full Auto Mode, it is practically impossible to screw up a photo, though not as much fun. Prefer it to so many other newer SLR's still. Makes some of the Rebels look like disposables.

Weakness:

Can't believe noone else wrote that there is no way for multiple exposures on this one, though available on the 620 and 630, maybe I'm wrong, but I did look into it. Little heavy, but gives a quality feeling, rather that than a flimsy feel. In Manual, it is clumsy to adjust the shutter and aperture. Autofocus a little testy in dim light situations.

Was my first SLR camera and the only one I ever used or wanted. Unfortunately I was taking a 30 second shutter speed shooting star shot and while I was waiting the wind blew it over off the unbalanced tripod. Was overwhelmed at first with learning how to use it, but after a few months of steady experimenting wasn't bad at all. Believe it or not I am a grown man who cried when it fell and broke (beyond practical repair).

Strength:

Rugged, reliable, and the battery lives for long periods of time.

Weakness:

Heavy and the rewind makes a lot of noise.

This is a fine camera that I have had for twelve years. It has served me well and I may never need another camera as long as I live as long as this one continues to operate. It does anything that I ask of it and has bounced down a long hill without any damage. I have a 50mm 1.8 and a 70-210mm 1.4 EF that I use with a Speedlite 300EZ flash unit. I will only give up this camera when they pry it from my cold dead hands!

Customer Service

Don't know. I have never had anything go wrong with the camera. I suspect that the camera might outlast me!

Strength:

Ergonomic, rugged, clear view.

Weakness:

Autofocus sometimes fooled.

This is the first Canon I have owned, all my previous cameras having been Nikons. I bought the camera after a brief hiatus in my hobby and have been pleased as punch with it. So much so I have recently purchased a second body. I love the large, clear and uncluttered viewfinder. This is particularly useful as I do a lot of landscape work and this aids me to properly frame my subjects. The body is ergonomically well designed and has a tough, rugged feel to it. All in all agreat workhorse.
