Light small all the stuff on it most will ever need.

Canon makes a bad pop up flash. Maybe they had the right idea with the rebel x no flash.

I loved this camera so much that I got another one and traded my zx-7 and my zx-30 pentax cameras for a used canon eos a2. I still love the rebel g the most it fits my small hands like it was made for them and the camera seems to think like I do. The a2 may be alot faster but I am in love with the rebel g.

This is a really nice camera with lots of versatility and options. I had a Minolta Maxxum Qtsi before this and it doesnt even match up. I dont really understand the creative zone options yet but im learning. i really like the 3 point focusing. the manual doesnt really clear any of the advanced features up so i dont like that part. also, in the pre-programmed modes, i dont know of any way to bypass the flash. if anyone does, let me know. other then that, im pretty happy so far.

This is my first "big purchase" camera and I love it. The quality of the photos are all that I imagined they would be. I love taking pictures of my baby and then people asking me where I had them done. It was real easy to pick up how to use it and I rarely even have to look at the manual. Eventually I would like to get something better, but I am happy with this version for now.

This camera is great. Good body, good lens. I bought in a kit with a 28-90mm lens. This camera feels great, and works like a dream. The features are easy to use. It has auto and manual settings. I have already tried the macro, setting and I was impressed! The pictures come out clean and crisp. This is a great camera for anyone that wants both manual and auto control. Plus it is the best camera for the price.

I purchased this camera used with Christmas money and can honestly say it was money incredibly well-spent. I do a lot of photography where I mainly shoot photographs of people just "doing their thing" and have found it a great camera for this application. It''s also my choice for when I go into the studio when I want to use a 35mm camera. For both of these applications, it has enough bells and whistles to make it fairly easy to get the photograph I expect, but not enough to distract me from the photograph. I must admit, however, I''m not terribly interested in everything-but-the-kitchen-sink models such as the Elan 7 or EOS-1V. I have not experienced any terrible problems with the metering, though it does tend to underexpose just a hair when shooting indoors. Surely not more than a half-stop. I have never used its flash. I really abuse this camera more than it deserves, but nothing has broken or otherwise acted up on me at all yet. I have used it on occasion for sports photography (when I prefer to have one camera with a 75-300mm lens and one with a 35-80) and have had no shutter problems. I have used this camera for four months now and think I have found a lifelong friend. The only thing that I find lacking is a depth of field preview, but most of the time, you don''t need it. This is truly a fine camera and I highly recommend it for just about anybody.

Excellent camera, but if you can pay a little bit more I recomend to buy EOS 300/Rebel 2000, you get more with a few cost more. But it''s realy a good camera. My favorite camera is EOS 5/A2, but I haven''t one yet. But the body is not so important than lenses. Major part of professional photographers uses 2 bodies to work.

Very lightweight body and lenses. Good range of features for the price. I've had it about 2 months, and have already taken some pictures (with its standard 35-80 mm zoom) that have pleased me very much.

The built-in flash is nice for fill, but you'll need a bigger gun for anything else, I think, and dedicated flashes can cost a lot! I worry about all the reports that it's a battery hog, but have no personal experience. No depth-of-field preview. I used it for some studio work, and had a lot of trouble with the auto-focus with strobes attached to the hot shoe by PC cord. Once I put it in manual focus, it was okay, but the focusing screens are inadequate for manual focusing.

This is the first camera I have bought in about 20 years, since I've been using my Nikon FE and FM to good effect for years. I'd never used an autofocus camera before buying this, and wanted to learn something about the program modes now available in SLR's. I was looking for a lightweight camera to take when traveling, and was amazed at how light the Rebel G is. And since it's an old model, replaced by the Rebel 2000, I got a good deal on it.

There's been a lot of discussion about the plastic body, but most complaints seem theoretical. It's plastic, so it must break easily, is the reasoning. I bought it BECAUSE of the plastic body, and I can be pretty rough on my cameras. Time will tell, but I'm optimistic.

I expect that after a while a beginner will start to wonder why the portrait mode is the portrait mode and the landscape mode is the landscape mode, and this will lead to an investigation and understanding of creatively using apertures and shutter speeds. With the "Creative Zone" modes, there's plenty of room for growth. If the camera turns out to be durable, it will be a great purchase for a beginner or amateur.

Relatively quiet. People complain that the plastic makes it seem cheap, but this is what helps make it more quiet, when compared to a metal camera,and lighter. Auto mode and auto focus allows me to be concerned only about expression of subject; auto-mode provides just right amount of flash when you need it, no flash when you don't.
(attachable flash unit [380ex] needed for outdoor fill flash, with 135mm telephoto lens.)

With children, I'm often ready to take the next picture before the auto-wind, etc., is ready. However, I already take 3 times as many pictures as a I did with manual wind, and I don't know if I'm willing to pay a higher price for the faster fames per second cameras.

I almost fell out of my chair when the first rolls of film came back (of a somewhat informal wedding). I could not believe how the attachable flash on the camera's auto mode got each exposure correctly (with a 50mm or a 135mm lens), as the sun went down from daylight to dark. Each picture was in focus and corectly exposed. Unbelieveable.
