    Strength:

Bought this camera a few years ago for my husband because he has no knowledge of how to operate a digital camera. To make long story short, I have purchased many digital cameras, but I keep going back to my EOS Rebel k2. I do not need a brain to operate this camera, it is that easy to operate, It goes every place I go for vacations and just simple picture taking....it is the best.

    Weakness:

For me, there are no weaknesses. I can not find one.....the only thing I was going to say it is rather large compared to some digital cameras, but my handbag took care of that problem.

Buy this camera if you can find one.

    Strength:

    - Fast and accurate autofocus - Simple navigation of controls - Solid build despite being plastic - Fully automatic film load and rewind - Adjustable DX coding - Great value all around

    Weakness:

    - Viewfinder could be bigger - Switching control dial to automatic or pre-programmed mode such as portrait resets manual settings in the manual mode such as aperture and shutter speed - No DOF preview but who uses that anymore? - No aperture markings on lens for controlling depth of field.

My first foray into photography started out with the Canon A60 digital camera and while I grew to love it's sharp pictures as well as ease of use I wanted to have a little more control over the picture taking process as well as have pictures more faithful to what I saw with my eye opposed to what Canon would think customers would like. Then I found the Canon Rebel K2 coupled with the 28-90 III USM lens at circuit city for $200. Let me say that I love this camera. The one thing I really hated about digital was all the menus and the dreaded LCD screen for focusing. Sure I could've bought a digital SLR but I wanted to learn with film. I must've snapped thousands of useless images with my digicam but not I feel more of the need to compose the shot and get the keeper. My next purchase will be an all manual dinosaur. :)

    Strength:

small, compact, light-weight, easy to use. big lcd panell on the back. works absolutely perfect after about a year. prize (even in hungary with its 300$).

    Weakness:

lack of any remote controlling (non-QD models) plastic body and bayonet little slow (1.5 fps)

this is a decent entri-level slr camera. my first af slr (i've been using a zenit xp 12 (classic russian), fully manual), and im really satisfied with it. includes "stupid-secure" modes, that i've never used, like fully automatic ("green"), or portrait, etc. it's pretty small without the bp-220 battery-pack (includes additional shutter button), but that's not so annoying. BIG mistake: there's no jack for wired remote switch, and the wireless remote controller only communicates with the QD modell...

    Strength:

Pretty cheap for its features: 7 point Auto-Focus, evalative 35-zones light metering

    Weakness:

no custom functions, a bit slow (only 1.5 fps)

Good starting point for beginners in SLR photography. If you want something more than point-and-shoot, here's a camera for you. The "full-auto" modes perform pretty well in case your experience is limited. The "creative" modes on the other hand only let you choose exposure parameters (shutter speed, aperture, compensation), the metering mode is set by default on partial in P, Tv and Av and central weighed in M. However, the auto-focus mode is set automatically (One shot, AI Focus and AI servo) in all modes.
