Strength:
Strong, ergonomic design, built in motor drive, multiple metering , high sync speeds.
Weakness:
A little noisy but I don't mind so is my F1. No sync socket. No Canon Support. No mechanical backup shutter unlike the F1N. Bought on Ebay with 35-105 zoom and 300TL flash all mint condition. Have purchased this to replace an ageing well used and unfortunately broken A1. The T90 is a great camera and feels very professional.THe flash capability is superb. This is as others have said the non Autofocus EOS. To me the best Manual Focus SLR I've had the pleasure to use. Customer Service None required and Canon has little to no support. Strength:
Multi-spot, fast motordrive, multiple metering modes, runs on AAs, great flash system, just a wonderful overall camera.
Weakness:
Heavy and loud, parts are hard to find A legendary camera with some features that have rarly been duplicated. The multiple spot system is amazing, and you get 4.5 fps. For the money its hard to find a better deal. Customer Service None needed Similar Products Used: Canon AE-1, AE-1P, F-1 |

Strength:
A very powerful camera packed with features.
Weakness:
Could use a vertical release button. I was impressed when I first picked up the T-90. It was a giant step up from the Canon A-1 I was using. The features are incredible. Then there was one thing that happened that made me a T-90 user for life...I bought a used lens off ebay and did not realize the apeture was inoperable. I was shooting a roll of test film indoors using my 300TL flash to test the lens, taking pictures from as close as 6" to about 10' away not realizing the apeture was stuck wide open. I did not get one bad picture. That's when I learned the camera senses the amount of light being reflected off the film surface and adjust the 300TL flash accordingly. I did try using a Canon Elan 7e on my last trip to Alaska. Every time I picked up the camera I wished I had brought my T-90. The Elan 7e is now gone and my T-90 is still in my case. Customer Service Never needed it. Similar Products Used: Canon AE-1, Ae-1P, A-1, F-1, T-70, EOS 10s, Elan 7e |

Strength:
perfect camera. 5 stars pro quality
Weakness:
instuction book is long and descriptive. i just bought a Canon T90... what an amazing work of art. i just got home and i was playing with it on the ride home. wow this camera is amazing. i have been interested in photography for over a year now and i have taken it so far as to building my own dark room. (im a 15 yearold highschool student) i first started out with a Canon Av-1 that my dad gave me and than i wanted 2 move up to something that gave me more flexiablity.... so went to the Village camera and bought a new Canon Rebel 2000. this camera was not that bad but had lots of restrictions... so 2day december 20th i went down to bobs 2 buy a Canon A-1 with a Motor drive and i look on the shelf and there was one t90 there and 15 A-1s and another 30 F-1s so i thought by the time i were to buy the A-1 and the motor drive i would have bought a t90. its a beautiful camera worth every penny. the shutter is so profound and sturdy. its a beautiful camera and i highly recommend it if you can get ahold of one. Customer Service Perfect camera Similar Products Used: i have never used a camera of this stage... except a Nikon N90 that myphoto teacher let me barrow... it sucked |

Strength:
Most others have covered the strengths in detail, so there''s not much to add. I''m just posting my personal "testimonial" here: This is *THE* manual focus camera to own/use. Let me repeat: Not ONCE. I *laugh* at digital cameras at for truly-serious "trench-warfare" photography. Give me my T-90, and a good scanner, and I''ll give you "digital"...
Weakness:
It *probably* wouldn''t work as a make-shift hammer, but then again.... This is *proof positive* that Canon has built some kick-ass products. In all the time (and places) that it''s been (including Summertime trips to Karachi, Pakistan), this camera has not failed me once. Not ONCE. It''s so good, in fact, that a couple of years ago, I bought a 2nd body, in unused condition, as my permanent back-up. Paid more for the 2nd body then I did for the prime! Similar Products Used: Lots. Until the T-90. I own a Canon Powershot Pro-70 for click-to-web work, but I would never, ever, take it to where the "T" has been. End of story. |

Yeah, it is strong!
Weakness:
No plug for a sync cord. I bought this camera while still in high school. I had been borrowing my fathers Pentax K1000 to ''learn the ropes'', but had found that I wanted to further persue the photojournalism field. I saved everything I could and finally ended up with the $400 needed to buy the camera. My dad drove me to Pittman Photo on 36th St. in Miami, but we arrived late on a Friday and found them closed for the weekend. Man, that was the longest weekend of my life! Out the door, Monday after school, $420. I still have the receipt (1986 I think). I have used it ever since. I''ve done work for the Miami Herald, Orlando Sentinel, Gainesville Sun, Independent Florida Alligator, and the Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville). I also carried it with me to the University of Florida while studying for a photojournalism degree. It has (almost) always worked flawlessly. The few times it gave me troubles, I was able to remove the batteries, then slide them back in to correct whatever ailed it at the time. It has been dropped twice from a height of 4 feet or so. It has been in -30 degree weather as well as in 105 degree Miami heat. Never a problem. It is built like a tank. Carrying it around along with my Domke full of lenses and flashes will wear me out quickly. I just don''t need all that equipment anymore. I''m just shooting pix of my family now and have given up on photojournalism. I''m still picky as hell about my shots, though. My trusty T90 will be on eBay shortly (along with my FD lenses) to give me the $ to purchase an EOS 1N and a couple of lenses. I''m not sure if it''s my lack of attention or what, but I''m not able to focus nearly as well as I used to and the autofocus route is where I''m headed to take care of the problem. Wish me luck. Customer Service It had the lens mount tightened once by Southern Photo Tech in Miami. Similar Products Used: Nothing. |

Strength:
AE lock , rapid metering area selection, multispot metering , TTL flash , excellent quality optics and rugged built, multiple exposure systems, modern design, compactness in front of a 4,5 fps built in motor, 1/250" syncro flash
Weakness:
plasticy covers, dioptrical setup default in the finder that difficultly accomodates for some peoples, no coupled metering in manual setting, 300 TL flash always coupled with slow-sync in TTL function, black painted hot shoe that scratch easily,mat-spraied plastic that wears easily, stop down recognition for depth-of-field not possible in AV, not avoidable automatic self winding at the end of the film, and rather noisy, Lithium inner battery not serviceable by user I recently purchased this body to cope with my old series of FD "L" lenses ; I utilize 30 other assorted bodies and I found amazing the instant AE lock and the complete spotmeter system. As you know, these Canon bodies (such as F1n)don''t match well with polarizing filters (Nikon is delightfull: just put on , read the light TTL and shot) ; to overlap the bug I shift the expoxure meter correction to + 1 and 2/3 stops (almost "4" on the LCD panel) ; I put the spot on the subject and active AE look ; then I put the polarizing filter handy in front of the lens and shot : the loss of light due to the filter has just been compensated by the + 1 and 2/3 stop exposure correction . Customer Service none (luckily : in Italy servicing is no longer available anywhere) Similar Products Used: Complete outfits from Nikon, Leica, Rollei,Contax, Contarex |

Strength:
Metering, quality construction, handling, AA batteries, full information in finder, compact (considering it has a 4.5 frame/sec. motor built in), lots of FD lenses around at good prices. But...
Weakness:
Yes, to be honest it has a couple of serious ones. I travel and wear glasses; and the view finder is the quite smaller than most other SLRs. It is also much bigger (taller) than most, and it "eats up" the space in your bag. It''s also noisier than newer built-in motors and winders. You can''t have it all. But you get quite close with the T-90! Yes, one of the Top Ten Ever. I bought a new one the first year of production (1997) (1 year), and then a second hand body (7 years later) and used it for 3 years. The metering is like the one in the Olympus OM4 but a bit faster to handle... plus partial area metering. The high speed shutter beats the OM4''s, and the T-90 oozes quality and strength. One overlooked feature is the pre-flash spot metering with dedicated Speedlite 300TL. Only Contax (RTS III) in 1990-something, and Leica''s R8 (later) added that function. Although we use modern SLR features, the T-90 did (and does) have most things... and more: AA batteries, modes, lots of lenses in the market, may the best handling... But... Customer Service Never needed it for the T-90 nor its flash. Similar Products Used: About 20 different SLRs of all kinds, compacts, flashes, etc. |
