Strength:

-Has functions for beginner and amateur photographers alike. -Fast shutter (1/4000 at fastest) and also as long as 30 seconds. -Good battery life (approximately 50 rolls if you ease up on flash). -Good ergonomics. -Efficient scrolling button that handles everything. -Speedy film-advancing

Weakness:

-Aperture (on manual) is a bit hard to adjust because you have to hold down a key near the lens, and then scroll to change the f-stops.

This is a wonderful camera. I have been using it for more than 3 years and have taken over 1000-2000 pictures and not ONE problem with it (well, there was this time when I took it out during a big snowstorm, and there was a lot of condensation on the lens, for some reason it locked up but it unlocked itself afterwards). Very reliable camera; it has never failed me once. The trick is, the lens that came with the camera kit is relatively cheap compared to the body (the part that bothers me the most is the focus adjustment ring when you switch to Manual). I have recently bought a 50mm AF normal lens for this camera, and the pictures were noticeably sharper (also has an aluminum-mount).

Strength:

The controls are well placed and easy to get to Manual settings are easy to adjust. Takes great pictures.

Weakness:

This is my third camera, and I purchased it because at the camera repair store, it was a great deal, and still in the box. I've been using a lot of beginner cameras and they have been lacking the options I need to shoot the pictures I want to take. This camera provides many options for creative photography as well as casual and beginner use. This is a great overall camera to use, and great tool to learn from.

Strength:

Many options manual or auto. Feels good in hand. Very clear functions. Works well with Sigma Lenses

Weakness:

Shutter release button is a bit stiff. Sometimes searches in low light. With sports photography, it eats the batteries.

I've been very impressed with the product and I woud recommend it to anyone who wants to do casual photography, but who also needs it for everyday uses. It has just about every function needed to do point and shoot as well as indulging yourself in the pleasures of more technical photography. Good all around camera!

Strength:

Lightweight. Many camera options and ease of use. Night shot. Good on batteries. Wireless flash operation. Auto "P" option. No matter what settings the camera was on... press the "P" button and camera is completly back to Auto mode.

Weakness:

Hard to find Date Back option.

Overall this is a good camera. I have had this camera for over 3 years and 2000 pictures. Takes great pictures. However I recently have had alot of probleums with it and had to send it to Minolta to get repaired. Built in flash stopped working and then it would not even power up."Return to original factory specs" $115.00. 1

Strength:

Exposure control +/-3, spot meter is handy

Weakness:

Could use DF preview, and mirror lock up, and view finder is only about 85% coverage of total area

I bought this camera over a year ago, as I begin to get back into photography. It has all the functions I desired. I shoot a lot of BW, and use the built in spot meter, and have good results. I use the manual and aperture priorty mainly, except when doing snapshot of the family gathering.

Strength:

light weight inexpensive

Weakness:

struggles to focus in low light (partly because of slow lenses)

This camera has traveled to Europe twice (over 70 rolls shot), taken dozens of rolls at sporting events. A great camera. Since I can''t afford fast lenses, I find that faster film works fine for action shots.

Strength:

Cheap. 14 segment honeycomb metering. Program set and manual features allow this camera to grow with you as you become more and more interested in photography.

Weakness:

Could use a Depth of Field preview. Plastic lens/tripod mount gives it a plastic feel. Lens that comes with the set is not the greatest.

Great beginner camera. Pretty much all of the needed features that a beginner will need (see below.) Good price for the feature set...
