DESCRIPTION

No matter what your photographic experience may be, the Maxxum 400si (Dynax 500si) makes taking pictures a profound pleasure. That’s because it’s equipped with Progressive, 3-level Operation: fully automatic mode for point & shoot simplicity, subject program selection for those hard-to-take shots, and complete creative control with aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual exposure modes.

Strength:

I like the ease of it. It's very simple to operate. I also like the versitility.

Weakness:

No problems at all. Works great.

I really enjoy the versitility, the light weight body and the quality of picture I get from this camera. Whether I am just shooting snapshots or shooting more "professional" style pictures I can use this camera.

I had an older model Minolta and loved it.

Strength:

I have only used the automatic mode which makes it very easy to use. It takes great pictures with very little red eye although it does have red eye reduction if needed. I like using the timer to get everyone in the picture.

Weakness:

Has been repared twice, once due to dropping and the other I was told was common with this camera ( the automatic focus quit working although I don't remember what piece was replaced). Camera repairs are expensive! It's a little cumbersome for the beach and traveling with kids. The date feature no longer works.

Overall, great pictures but I need to learn to use it without the automatic mode.

A very good camera to begin with.
Quite simple.

Weakness:

no

I am quite happy with the camera. Lenses is more the problem.
I am looking for a second body, do do B&W. Completely manual.
Maybe I should have gone with Nikon, I could share lenses.
Good camera to start with. Low resale value.

Strength:

I love this camera because for so long I was afraid to use and SLR. The problem was, my children ALWAYS got red-eye. After purchasing and returning a number of cameras, a salesperson talked me in to this camera. Not only did the red-eye disappear, but my pictures were clear, close, sharp colors, almost everyone -- perfect!

Weakness:

NO

I think this is a great camera for the money. It is easy (a lot easier than many point and shoot cameras!). It takes clear, sharp pictures and eliminates the red-eye effect. I have had mine for 3 years and I love it more and more. I have also become a MUCH better photographer using this camera.

Strength:

Ease of use, and many neat options....from fully automatic to manual operation. Light weight.

Weakness:

No, but I
would have liked more light metering options like matrix, spot, and center weighted.

Great camera! Rugged. I've taken it on several ski and backpacking trips in extreme weather conditions.

Strength:

Very easy to use. Takes beautiful close-ups. I also like the different modes you can switch between. I took some wonderful night pictures on the Fourth of July this year with the night mode. I also like the fact that the camera can be fully manual if you are an expert photographer.

Weakness:

No problems to date.

Wonderful camera. My pictures improved 100% after purchasing this camera.

Great for extreme sports. Close ups are good too.

Weakness:

First one I got broke down for some reason and had to be replaced. I got it replaced no questions asked.

Good for most sports. A few extra features would be nice.
