Strength:
Its got a quiet shutter but the mirror mechanism is noisy so negates this feature. It's quite compact and fits the hand well.
Weakness:
None when/if it works I was so looking forward to owning this camera. It has been a massive disappointment. Firstly there was an issue with a mark on the shutter which Nikon UK was in denial about but when it came back no mark????????? Now it is back with them as it seems to have a flash sync/flash metering problem. It seems I have a very bad one but Nikon UK are so arrogant that they simply can't believe anyone would criticise or be disatisfied with their product. Let's just hope I am one on my own. Customer Service I am disappointed with the service I receive from Nikon UK. I hope you guys in the USA fare better. Similar Products Used: Canon EOS 1v |

Strength:
Feels great to hold and handle. Matrix metering works very well on a diverse range of subjects and lighting situations. Autofocus is very fast and quiet. Shutter noise is nicely suppressed. Controls take little time to master and quickly become second nature. Without the optional battery pack, the F6 feels lighter and is easier to hold than I originally expected. The grip is very comfortable for me and makes it easy to hold the camera steady.
Weakness:
No particular weaknesses come to mind. I have been using the F6 for about 1 month now. It has not been a disappointment in any respect. The film advance and focusing are very quiet (and on my 17-35mm S zoom, focusing is virtually inaudible). The auto focusing is very fast on all lenses and, as might be expected, extremely fast on the S lens. The lenses I have used so far on the F6 are the 85mm f/1.8; the 17-35mm zoom; the 50mm f/1.8; and the 60mm macro. All are very fast. The 60mm does occasionally hunt at times, but that seems to be inherent in macro lenses, given their extra long focal range. The shutter is audible, but is the quietest SLR shutter I have used to date. Everything operates smoothly and handling is wonderful. The placement of the buttons and controls seem to be very well thought out by Nikon. The setups for the various controls leave little room for improvement, as they have been designed to maximize efficiency and quickly become second nature in practice. The array of 11 active autofocus segment indicators are well placed and the active segments is highlighted in red on the viewfinder. Using the control toggle on the back to change the active segment is very easy and sometimes it seems to read my mind, going the current active segment to the desired segment effortlessly, regardless of how many other segments are in between. |

Strength:
Excellent metering Lighter than F5 Sturdy build
Weakness:
Short battery life Expensive lithium batteries This trouble-free (so far), sturdy, good-looking, great handling camera has the very best light metering system in existence. It will be very interesting to see it perform in snow. It seems hard to fool. I love the size and weight and the custom settings are great. Customer Service Excellent with other Nikon products Similar Products Used: Nikon F100 and F5 |

Strength:
Speed of autofocus Build System backup Exposure accuracy Speed
Weakness:
None although a bit heavy Basically a hybrid of a D2h's focusing system, the F100's removable grip and the F5. Fast autofocus, tank-like build, all features you could ever want in a film camera other than digital back interchange-ability. Put's Nikon back on the map versus Canon, although I still think the EOS1v has a better focusing system - it just seems to select the right areas whereas Nikon sometimes makes the wrong choices.
