The shutter and mirror are well-damped and balanced. I'll check more of its features after putting up wallpaper in my room. Overall, this is worth the buy!

Strength:

The camera has a variety of shooting modes, including aperture priority, manual mode, and program mode, allowing for greater control over the final image. It has a fast and accurate autofocus system that can help capture crisp images in a variety of settings. It is also compatible with a wide range of lenses, making it a versatile option for photographers. www.drywallcorpuschristi.com loves it!

Weakness:

The camera is just a bit bulky and heavy, making it less convenient to carry around than some smaller options but overall it's great.

Pure minimalism! I have to say I disagree with the extreme views of some earlier reviewers who have trashed this camera on their ignorance. Boca Raton Auto Glass Repair

Strength:

It’s fast enough at 4000 to shoot sporting event and capture decent wildlife images, although some may find it tricky with the small auto focus zone, but it can be done. Akron Commercial Truck Repair

Strength:

Accurate, reliable, many features including matrix metering, dof, mirror lock-up with self-timer, TTL OTF flash. Removeable drive (quieter w/o it, lighter w/o it), attach it if only if you need it. I am using a lot do take pictures for my site https://ramoneurgranby.com/

Weakness:

Can't think of any besides the fact they are no longer made. The best manual focus camera in the Nikon line but unfortunately no longer mfg'd (since "89).

Strength:

Rugged Nikon build quality, relatively light weight, Feature set. Nikon lenses MLU with self timer.

Weakness:

No AE lock

I purchased my FA form Ffordes about 3 years ago to replace my FG which died, something of a common problem apparently. Sad because despite its short comings I was rather fond of the FG. Anyway back to the FA. Its a considerable step up in manufacturing quality over the FG. I already have an FM2n but the FA feels slightly lighter despite having a very similar body. The FA fits my hands better than the FM2n due to the detachable grip and the slightly swollen back and front plates. The shutter is slightly quieter and gives less slap than the FM2n, and for these reasons I prefer the FA, slightly.
Some don't like the metering display compared to the FE, FE2 FM3a, but I don't find the LCD in the FA a problem. In some ways I prefer it as it sits nicely out of the way when composing. It is harder to see in low light but I can live with that. In bright light its much easier to see than an LED display. The match needles of the FE etc, are probably better for most people but as I say for me the FA's display it just fine.
The FA offers matrix metering with its various automatic modes and defaults to CW in manual. You can select CW in the auto modes if you chose. I wish it had an AE lock but apparently Nikon was confident it didn't need one when using matrix metering or they were just too cheap to put one in! Again this is no big deal for me.
I like Nikons auto MLU feature when using the self timer.
I am forever losing or breaking cable releases so for me this is an invaluable feature.
Of all the various FE based Nikon bodies out there this is my personal favourite, despite its rather tacky 80's styling compared to the classic looking others, mostly due to the aforementioned grip and swollen body.
I paid £90 for mine from Ffordes in good usable condition. It was only £20 more expensive than an FG and cheaper than any usable FE2 by about £30. Prices are still competitive on Ebay compared to other FE/FM2 bodies but they are going up.
I would recommend one to anyone interested in a Nikon film body.

Strength:

Manual focus, Program, appeture priority, shutter priority, manual modes, matrix and cenerweighted metering, double exposure function, Minimal shutter slap, with an md-15 motordrive is attached it is very ready, viewfinder curtain,1/250 flash sync, 1 sec-1/4000 sec shutter speeds. I'm sure there are more!!!

Weakness:

could use shutter speeds down to 8 sec, but i think i am asking too much then!!!!

I purchased this camera because of its incredible versitility and because it was manual focus. This camera has proved invaluable in my books because I have never needed to do something that the camera couldn't do. I added an md-15 motordrive to my camera about 6 months ago and love it. I am very impressed with this camera and don't anticipate getting rid of it anytime soon.
