Strength:
Easy to use, everything is logically layout, a camera that you can 'understand'. (I think it is more important to understand you gear than counting how much it can do for you.) Great Nikkor!
Weakness:
Not as reliable as I expected. The winding lever fell off during a boat trip. The shutter broken twice, needed expensive repairs. The mirror refused to return to resting position twice too. Even the motor jamed once. The exposure meter never work when cold (around 0-5 degree) although it may be the problem of the batteries. The name plate made of plastic rather than metal. All happened within seven years service, when I take on average a roll a day. Shutter not response instinctly. Difficult to open when the eye cap is on, I have changed three caps for this. An affordable all mechanical camera when compare to R6, F2 and XM etc. When everyone around me is using auto-everything, it's like a candle in the dark, showing the way to true photography: manual focus (when you can make composition and focus at the same time, in some occasions faster than AF), batery independent (you never forget charging the batteries), no AF so no AF lock, no AE so no AE lock, it's simple. Photography is that simple, but not brainless. Finally, I expect it to be tougher. Perfect as a second body (even only for it's max. high shutter speed). But first one? I doubt it. Use F2. Customer Service The Nikon Hong Kong staffs are not very nice people. And expensive too. Similar Products Used: Canon EOS 1 RS, Leica R8, Canon new F1, Nikon FA, Minolta 700si. |

Strength:
Reliable, durable and can operate without batteries.
Weakness:
A little pricy for the budget minded. No autofocus and not rain-proof. Frankly, I can't think of much. All you need to take pictures, reliable, durable and a wide range of nikon accessories for various purposes. Good for beginners who wants to learn photography and a good mechanical-body back-up. Well built. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Pure mechanic camera, no problems with heat/cold/fog... , very handy - a camera to take you everywhere. Full use of the Nikon program. Reliable, reliable, reliable !!!
Weakness:
Pricy, no spot-metering. I am using mechanic Nikons since 15 years and my favorite is the FM2/T - it's to good for just standing in a "museum" :-) Customer Service No problems with Swiss service ! Similar Products Used: F3P |

Strength:
Doesn't need a battery except for the meter.Built in syc connection. High sync speed and shutter speed.
Weakness:
none I can think of Solid workhorse which I use for a back-up in the event of battery failure in another camera. It will shoot all week long and never need a battery to help it function properly. I recommend it for all levels of photography especially beginners with a desire to learn. Customer Service I have never used it Similar Products Used: Nikon FE2, F3, Canon EOS RT |

Strength:
The stengths are: Solid, reliable, compact,non-battery dependability, light, well-thoughtout machine.
Weakness:
I had a problem to focus sometime because of my weakeye sight. The bottom line is slowing me down.I like a large format camera too because of the same reason. I have to think carefully before taking a picture.Of course, I like to blast my camera like F5. But I was really surprised FM2 is a really good camera. I look into viewfinder, then I can operate everything in my hand, I can see everything in my eye. The other thing I like this camera is not depended upon a batteries. It is a really good camera. if you think what you need to have a good picture is you and shutter and aperture and light. Customer Service I have never used them fortunately. Strength:
Light weight, durable, acurate metering
Weakness:
None This camera is one that I continue to explore. As a photojournalist, I've used 'em all but every couple of years I revert to my roots. Recently, some mechanical and focusing problems with 2 F100 bodies forced me to crack the seal on my FM2N's. My eyes are once again open! I can see the light (and it's correctly metered). My focus is clear and my aim true. Anybody in the market for a couple of F100's? Cheap? Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: All Nikon, several Canon bodies |

Strength:
Solid quiet no battery operation.
Weakness:
None. Sold my FM2n when I bought an N90. Boy, did I miss it. Just before Nikon discontinued it I grabbed a new FM2/T. I use it when backpacking when weight is a factor. It is also my second body to go with my N90s. AF lenses work great, but focus is mushy. Standard AIS manual lenses have a more positive focus "touch". This camera will keep on clicking in temperatures that put the N90s into hibernation. It's also half the weight. Great for students as it forces you to think about the exposure settings. Can be motor driven (but why bother...better to take your time and compose) with an MD-12. This body has been around for 20 years and still holds it's own. The FM2/T titanium bodies are hard to come by. Grab one if you can. Customer Service Never needed. Similar Products Used: N90, N90s, F2, F4 |

Strength:
Tough, non battery dependent, well laid out controls, easy to use o+- led in low light, let's me use Nikkor lenses, mirror lockup with self timer
Weakness:
Slowest shutter speed is 1 sec. I love this camera even though it's shutter is being repaired right now (I bought it used, I'm sure it's at least 15 years old) I am interested in landscape photography so my second body is an FE2 which gives me speeds to 8 seconds as well as ttl flash. I'm sure this camera will do everything I want it to. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Nikon FE2 |
