Strength:
Compact design, ease of operation, killer matrix metering, and excellent fill-flash capability, to name a few.
Weakness:
Almost too small for my relatively normal-sized hands... will probably buy the grip one of these days. I shoot mainly Velvia and Ektachrome Extra Color when I'm "working" out in the field. But my wife and my family want prints of birthdays, reunions, etc., so I bought the N80 and keep it loaded w/ Fujicolor film. The beauty of the camera is that I can hand it to my wife, and she can take great pictures without knowing all that much about photography. I keep my "old" 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 mounted on it most of the time, and the pics are outstanding! The matrix metering works like a charm in 95% of the situations, and the fill-flash feature is d***-near perfect. The AF is relatively fast and quiet and accurate. This is not a pro-level camera... which is okay because it doesn't carry a pro-level price tag. If you don't need all the features of the F100, but you want a reliable camera that's a pleasure to use, I would suggest the N80 without hesitation. Strength:
Really nifty package-Feature packed. Very high quality, tight, and works flawlessly. Coupled with the 24-85 macro zoom this is a super package and weighs on the order of a little over 2 lbs.
Weakness:
Does not shut down on its own and will completely use up a set of batteries in a short time. This is an expensive lesson at $10-15 per pair. I started by looking to buy another body for my Olympus system and soon discovered I could get an auto-focus Nikon N 80QD and a 24-85 zoom for less money. Zukio images are still sharper than Nikkor's zoom, however the convenience is just too good to pass up. I can catch pictures I would have otherwise missed. Strength:
Balances very well in my hands, lots of features that I miss in my Minolta Htsi, especially the DOF. Very accurate metering. Bright viewfinder, helpful on demand grid lines.
Weakness:
I always have difficulty turning the left side section slide lever while pressing the lock release, could be made less cumbersome. There were features that I lacked in my HTsi, but the Htsi is still my camera of choice when casual snapping. The Nikon tends to be a bit heavy with the 28-105 D lens. Both are excellent cameras. Customer Service Not tried yet. Have the Nikon extended warranty. Similar Products Used: Canon AE-1, Minolta HTsi |

Weakness:
2.5 fps Very good camera for the money. I just can't understand why a comperably priced Canon can shoot 4 fps and also has an available vertical shutter release. My 15 year old N2000 can shoot 2.5 fps. The MB-16 battery pack is the same price as the battery pack for the Canon Elan 7 but does not come with a vertical shutter release whereas the Canon does. Nikon quality is impecable, and the 3-D metering is great, but does it really mean that they can't offer these other capabilities for the same price? Customer Service Not thrilled. I have to pay to send my defective product to them, and then wait up to 2 weeks. Similar Products Used: N90s |

Light, good value and handling. Good autofocus system. Good camera for wild animal photography. Wery flexible. Original objective got macro.
Weakness:
Plastic, weak flash. Is there a panorama format? This is a good camera for all types of photography, but if you want somting more stabile you should get a camera whit metallic chamerahouse. I'm very happy about my F80. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Features for the money, bright viewfinder, Matrix 3D and sopt metering.
Weakness:
grip is too small for my right hand thus making the MB 16 battery pack a necessity. This is a great camera for the money. Although it has extensive usage of plastic components; however, its build quality is excellent. Furthermore, plastic has advantages: weight saving and lower cost. Essentially you get 90+% of F100's features and capability, but at about 50% of its price. Customer Service Prompt and courteous in answering technical and product information. Weakness:
sync.speed,no hotshoe Great camera,I love the handling(but that´s my point of view, other people may think otherwise),the metering is faultless till now (i took more or less 3000 photos, and exposure errors were doe to wrong judgements I made).Flash may seem week, but by the results I've been getting,I just can't complain.I'm satisfied with this equipement, and I think it as a very good value for money. Strength:
Lightweight, useful custom functions, can use a manual cable release.
Weakness:
Not many, but with all the custom functions the N80 has, You would think that Nikon would have added a custom function to leave the film leader out!!!! As I got older, I was looking to lighten the load of my camera equipment. So I tried the Nikon N65 which was pretty light, but was not good enough for my needs. I went with the N80 which is not much heavier than the N65. Then I went out an bought the New Tamron 28-200mm XR aspherical macro super zoom which weighs only twelve ounces!!! Now I have a nice lightweight package without sacrificing equality. I plan on getting the MB-16 battery/grip so that I could use AA batteries and have a better grip on the camera. I would recommend the N80 to advanced photographers and the N65 for the beginners. I cannot wait to go on vacation Because I won't feel like I am carry ten pounds of equipment with this lightweight system. Customer Service None Similar Products Used: N70 |
