After several thousand rolls, it's fair to say that the N90s (F90s for me) has been durable, with the exception of a busted shutter noted below. As an old N8008 user, I found the viewfinder information readable and complete and controls rather well arrayed - major reasons I stayed with Nikon.
Weakness:
A shutter jam which cost me $450 for a replacement shutter. Archaic autofocus and poor body handling are offset by excellent viewfinder, sophisticated flash, good metering and durability and excellent flexibility for manual control. Customer Service Reasonably responsive the few times I've had occasion to call. Similar Products Used: Minolta SRT 101 |

Nice metering and fast autofocus. 4.3 fps and focus tracking is excellent. I really like the way that it is designed where you can change everything with one dial. It takes great pictures.
Weakness:
You can only change aperature in whole stop increments. No mirror lock-up. Vari-program is a joke to serious photographers. A great camera for a serious amatuer or even a professional. Fast and accurate autofocus and good metering make this camera a great value now that the F100 is out and N90s prices are falling. Try eBay for good used prices but be sure to use iEscrow in the transfer so as not to get ripped off. Customer Service Haven't used yet, but I here that they are the best. I love my N90S for many reasons ... but probably #1 on my list is it's accurate TTL metering system. Followed closely by it's numerous "we beat the other guys hands down" options & it's overall unbeatable ease of use. Forget the other guys. You can't beat Nikon ... & for the price, you can't beat the N90S. This camera was built to take pictures ! Others have fancy sales "schpeals" ... but this one delivers. Some people say it's not overly durable. But, I've taken this camera into tough conditions (hurricane force gales ... standing on a beach fighting to stay vertical ... & I have been wet, frozen, hot, etc. ... & this camera has never failed me once.
Weakness:
No ... Well, once, right after the "hurricane winds & waves to my chest incidence" ... the shutter release did get a little sticky. (Wonder why ?) But, after cleaning it & getting it professionally lubed, it's fine. Dollar for dollar, you can't beat it. I can't wait to get the new F100. But, when I do, this one won't stay in my pack ... it will just share the load !!! Customer Service They're great ... the best. Similar Products Used: Canon, Pentax, Minolta. |

Its versatile yet simple to use. Fast focusing with preset options. The TTL flash system is excellent and I like the preset exposure options.. I like using my fast 1.4 -50mm lens for low light photos and black and white. The MB-10 is a nice addition and makes it heavier, but that is a plus as far as I am concerned as it gives me that feeling of sturdiness. It is the best camera for the money at least for me and I have had excellent photos taken.
Weakness:
No Its a very good camera body.. I use it with a Tamron 28 to 200 and 200 to 400 lenses.. Very fast focusing and very good TTL Flash sysem.. The vertical grip makes it heavy but I think that is a plus when snapping shots. I also use Nikons 1.4 -50mm lens for low light shots Customer Service NA Similar Products Used: I also have the Nikon 6006, which I use to keep other types of film. It has a built in flash, which is very convienient |

This is a great camera, that has all the benifits of being a Nikon and reflects an evolution of Nikon Camera. It has the best bang for your buck of any on the Nikon line.
Weakness:
If you use it with the MB-10 it can be a bit of a battery hog, but you never leave the house without spare batteries, so no problem, right?? This is a great camera that has all the features you need to free you of the technical and allow you to consentrate on what's in the viewfinder. Customer Service These new cameras have so much electronics in them you really have to deal with Nikon if you're having any problems. You can take it to the corner camera repair guy, but chances are he's going to send it to Nikon and charging you for it. Similar Products Used: Nikon 801 |

I have the F90X (about the same as N90S). It is a solid piece of equipment, accurate exposure, love it with the SB28 flash, very well thought out. I'm glad I bought it.
Weakness:
It doesn't have some of the newer features of the F100 and N80, but its been around along time and there's a great deal of Internet support for this machine. This is an established, excellent camera with fast autofocus, accurate exposure and, of course, access to the full line of Nikon lenses! Customer Service It hasn't been necessary to obtain customer service as of yet. Similar Products Used: I bought into the Nikon system when I got this camera, so I did examine the Nikon line between N60 and F100. Also looked over the Canon products of similar value. |

-Well spec
Weakness:
-No auto bracketing I took a long time to decided btw the F80, F90X and the F100. The F80 is a fine landscape camera (has all the functions ever needed except MLU). The F100 was not economically viable for me at least....wished I could afford it. I could have bought the F80 but I just have to say that it just doesn't feel right. Its has huge potential (feature-laden) but does not inspire the same confidence as my F3 does. And the F80 does not meter with my beloved AIS lenses. So that leaves me to the F90X........which I think is a good enough AF camera considering what I do. With the F100 out.....its also a lot cheaper than it used to be. Good value for money. Customer Service Not needed yet. I hope not. Similar Products Used: EOS 50E, F3HP, F100, F80, F601 |

Strength:
Fast autofocus, well built, easy to use controls once you learn how to use them, nice flash features, focus tracking is fast and accurate, 3 metering modes let you do anything you want.
Weakness:
Matrix metering tends to overexpose in contrasty situations; mostly I use spot metering now, heavy compared to my old Canon Ftb, options are expensive, why they put in the preprogrammed modes, I'll never know. I've had this for a year now and like it a lot. Get the MB-10 grip if you can afford it - feels a lot better in the hand. This is a well built camera with straightforward controls - you just have to take the time to learn them. I've used it to shoot some rodeo events with rider and horse coming straight at me in full gallop, and the focus tracking worked great. This camera is well worth the money; glad I bought it. Customer Service None required. Similar Products Used: Just my good old Canon Ftb |
