Strength:

Complete control over the whole process plus programmed automatic exposure. Price was attractive. Accepts all Pentax lenses. Most important, it has depth of view (DOV) preview function.

Weakness:

No mirror lock up. The shutter/mirror mechanism can be a source of vibration.

This is a respectable body. I bought it about 12 years ago and was my primary body until yesterday. While I was buying a macro lens, I played with a newer Pentax body and found that the vibration/noise associated with the P30 was essentially absent. I picked up a ZX-5N. The P30 is now my backup body.

Strength:

Built quality is high. Metal Lens mount. Depth Of field. Ease of use with Programm AE. Have use for 5 years without any need for repair or service. Extreme reliable.

Weakness:

Flash for Autofocus camera like Z1-P and the MZ series is not compatible. Viewfinder is not that comfort for people with spectacles.

Handling is first rate. Layout is neat and its not over crowded with buttons.
The lens is sharp and have won quite a number of our Photo club in house contest which is facing stiff competion with a lot of photographer with high end Nikon and Canon.
Whatever it has, it can compete well. Will definetely go for Pentax if I upgrade to Autofocus model.
