Strength:
Lots of features for the money
Weakness:
Only accepts sigma mount lenses, bad autofocus (be prepared to use manual focus most of the time), 28mm photos do not work with EF-430 Flash, batteries do not last. Lots of features for the money, however my experience has not been good. Autofocus a really bad, and the tradeup offer to an SA5, SA7 or SA9, was virtually the same as being it new from B&H. Unfortunaltey since I have various lenses for this camera I am stuck with getting the SA9. I definately would not recommend this camera. Customer Service They always offer for camera to be sent in for free estimate, than they charge you but do not resolve the problem. Trade-up value offer pathetic, you can find it cheaper at B&H Similar Products Used: Canon, Nikon, Pentax |

Strength:
Lots of nice features, including autobracketing and mirror-up for telephotos. Exposure control has held up well for six years now.
Weakness:
Limited availability of lenses. Even Adorama carried only three or four with Sigma SA mount. Went to B&H for additional lenses. I would buy it again -- if you undersatnd that trade-in value is nil. To get the same features on a Nikon, Canon, Pentax, etc., would cost hundreds more. Customer Service Has not needed service. Similar Products Used: Used to work in cameras shop, early '90s, so tried all the 35mm AF SLRs of that era. Sigma SA-300 compares well. |
