    Strength:

2.5fps advance, flash, auto set ISO setting or maual set, ev+-0-3, multiple exposures up to 9, lightweight, many lenses you can choose from, great price, mid roll rewind, great metering systems, many other features check website for more

    Weakness:

Flsh doesnt pop up you flick it up,i can't think of anything else its incredible

FRST OF ALL AT B&HPHOTO.COM you can get this camera for $250 with a 28-80 lens great dal. This camera is great for anyone. Like the ad say you get a professional style camera for a great price. I think this camera is very underrated people don't realize how good of a camera sigma can produce they only know the lenses. By the way you get many lenses for your camera you'll never run out. This is one of the best kept secrets this camera you get everything you want in a great camera compared to other entry level cameras this one makes them shrivel back in fear.

    Strength:

features build, Light, easy to use,

    Weakness:

Auto focus could be better, it would have helped if Sigma would have left the infrared help light on this camera like the SA5

I bought the SA 7 from ebay and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The Sigma camera was had all the features I like and were more accessible than my Canon Eos 7. The SA 7 has as fast Auto focus (Sigma 28-80 f3,5-5,6 lens) as the Canon 28-90 f4-5,6 that I had on my EOS 7 when I bought it. There are so many people giving Sigma a bad reputation so I was not sure if I should buy this camera but I do not regret it. The only draw back with the Sigma SA 7 is its Auto focus. It dose hunt a bit and has trouble locking on in low light. Often this can be trouble some if you do not have good light. The SA 5 has a lot better Auto focus system because of the infrared Auto focus aid light. I would definitely say that The Sigma SA 7 with a 28-70 f2,8 lens is a lot better buy then the Canon EOS 300 with a Canon 28-105 f3,5-5,6 lens. Why to I compare these two? Because this outfit would probably cost the same. If you want a good beginners camera then this is the camera and it will grow with you. Now some of you would probably be saying that the Canon has the 7-point Auto focus. I mostly use the center focusing point on my EOS 7 and I often go to manual because in some situations I am more faster working manual then choosing which focusing point to use. The Sigma lenses are good lenses if you spent a little extra money on the more expensive lenses from Sigma you won’t be disappointed.

    Strength:

accurate metering, evaluative, spot and center weighted well fitted and finished inside and out DOF preview large and clear data readout in viewfinder low initial cost of camera compared to other manufacturers

    Weakness:

    none

Wanted to get back into photography after hiatus of nearly 20 yrs, researched all the options and found this to be the most highly regarded new camera with the options I wanted. Excellent beginner camera but with a simple shiftable program in addition to aperture, shutter and manual program; wide selection of Sigma lenses, bought mine with 28-80mm and 70-210mm zooms, and got a 50mm macro later; solid, accurate, three metering modes, and the eight segment evaluative metering seems very accurate, used during some high contrast snow and forest landscapes I did; 2 second self timer if you're taking close ups with a tripod and need a long exposure, hands off the camera; stainless steel lens mount; and the camera feels good to hold. After taking a workshop with some skilled photographers and pros, I realized that this camera offer more than enough to produce images as good as any 35mm camera; as others have noted, good lenses are the key, and Sigma produces some good lenses; the SA-7 and SA-9 are clearly cameras made by a major lens manufacturer for the beginning and intermediate photographer (and that you cannot use other after purchase lenses seems moot to me).

    Strength:

Viewfinder magnification and brightness, built in Japan, light weight, a real depth of field preview (invaluable), good on camera flash performance.

    Weakness:

None really, if I had to nit pick wish the flash sync was 1/250 but in this price range none are.

Surprised and Delighted, best describe my feelings about this camera. I wanted something really light with a built in flash. Looked at a bunch of low end cameras. What took me was not all the gimmicks but the bright viewfinder and it''s magnification factor. Some of the other cameras viewfinders are tiny are hard to look through. Built in Dioptor, depth of field preview, nice handling, good performance from built in flash and all the essential modes plus built in JAPAN, not China or Phillipines and a cheap price made this the choice. Was a bit skeptical about the mount and lenses, but their lenses quality is oustanding and truth is I will only use two zoom lenses 95% of the times with this camera. Fills the need for a light SLR with more flexiblilty than a P&S with zoom. Viewfinder information is easy to read. I find myself carrying the camera all the time now. Isn''t that what it''s about. Getting the shoots instead of wishing we had a camera for a shot. I own plenty of high end gear, this is a nice little SLR. Great bang for your buck.

    Strength:

Good feel for me. Solid DOF preview Dioptic adjustment Exposure bracketing Three metering modes Four exposure modes

    Weakness:

Locking battery cover is a play in 3 acts.

A great value for the price. All the features I will ever need or use, and a lot of them for an entry level camera. As solid a plastic body as any. $60 less than a Rebel 2000 or Maxxum 5. Excellent results with 28-135 and Sigma 500 flash.
