Strength:

Easy to Handhold expecially with speed-grip. Excellent meter.
No vibrations (leaf shutter).Great lenses : excellent colour saturation.
The system can achive wonderfull sharpness.
Low price used.

Weakness:

TTL flash only with the Bronica flash.
A little bit complex way to interchange between mirror-up and normal mode.
Batteries' life short.

Anyway, for what I have obtained with my GS-1 with 65,150 and 250mm I can only testimony the EXCELLENT results. Nothing to compare with P67 (due to focal shutter vibrations...)
A really great buy.

Customer Service

can be a problem.
After 3 months I'm still waiting for a spare part (elettronical part) from Japan. Or it's a problem of the Italian distributor ?...waiting...

Strength:

Relatively light for 67, Price S/H, quality of the results.

Weakness:

Smaller system than Mamiya RB/RZ. No revolving back - but this keeps weight down.

I bought the standard kit (body, WLF, 100mmPG, 120 back) for a relative pittance. I have since bought the speedgrip, second back, and a Polaroid back. Top performance at a bargain price secondhand. Perhaps the best "undiscovered" MF camera out there.

I only have the 100mmPG lens at the moment, but it compares well against the Mamiya 7II 65mm, a very sharp lens. Get the speedgrip - it totally transforms the handling of the camera, even when tripod mounted.

I hope Tamron, Bronica's owners, read this list and realise that this is a system worthy of more support.

Not yet tried.

Strength:

Robust and lightweight body, excellent lenses, great flexibility, well-thought-out accessories (great speed grip, prohood, TTL flash, multiple format backs, etc.) , moderate cost, superior camera for both studio and field use..

Weakness:

Marketing pitch for this camera is poor

A severely underrated camera and lenses. At f8-f11 the lenses will hold their own with the finest lenses at any price. The GS-1 delivers all of the really important considerations in MF. Once you have one, you'll likely never look back. I have 50/65/110Macro/150/250 lenses, Prohood, 18mm extension, 1.4x tele-extender, TTL flash, several Bronica 6x7 backs, Bronica Polaroid back,Speedgrip, focusing knob, etc. Superb flexibility!

Customer Service

Have not needed it in 10 years.

Strength:

Compact, light, fully functional and quite reliable. Esp. great price/value wise.

Weakness:

Product line is limited. Awkward usage of tripod adaptor with polaroid back.

Better value used than new, given the often more than 50% depreciation. Advise is buy it used! The cheapest used filmbacks start from US$90.

Customer Service

Sucks as in most parts of the world for Bronica.

Strength:

extremely light 67 system. Very sharp lenses. Takes a licking...my 13 year old body just went to the shop for the first time, after countless thousands of rolls. (Been dropped twice from 3+ feet onto packed dirt)

Weakness:

cable releases are junk. 50mm lens has a 95 filter.

my bread and butter, reliable as the sun. I use it almost exclusevely in the field, under all conditions (rain, snow). So compact, it is often mistaken for a 645. Sorely undermarketed by Tamron; causing the GS-1 to lose resale value. However this is a double edged sword, and has led to oustanding deals on used equipment. Strengths far outweigh the negatives...

Customer Service

excellent service from Bronica. i believe the bad rep Bronica has attained stems from the days when it was distributed by GMI

Strength:

Maybe the most 'clever' camera kit I found: flexible, simple, versatile, intuitive and very useful for the 99% of 'normal' works a photographer can do.

Weakness:

The big ignored. No perspective control lenses (or adapter). No ttl flash (I mean serious flashes...). No digital backs. No 35mm back as it shows the camera manual...

For professional use: USEFUL

Strength:

1. Lightweight compared to other medium format 6x7 cameras - especially pentax and mamiya.
2. Great pictures - nice lenses.
3. easy to operate
4. flexible system - different film sizes

Weakness:

None

This is a great camera - easy to operate and rugged for a 6x7 camera. I bought it used off ebay and it was a terrific value - have only had the GS-1 for a couple months - the pictures I've gotten thus far are excellent.

Customer Service

Strength:

Great lenses.
Small size for a 6x7
Ability to shoot 6x7, 6x6, 6x4.5.
Solid and reliable.

Weakness:

None I've found....

I have 3 bodies, 50mm, 65mm, 100mm, 2-110s, 200mm, 11 backs, 2 poloriods backs, Bronica flip attachment, Pro hood, Rotary AE finder, prism finder, 3WL finders, Etc. I'm looking for a good price on a 2x but I haven't really needed it so I ain't looking to hard. It's a great camera that lasts. Buy one used and you've got a bargain on your hands. Can't compliment it enough....

Customer Service

Very good for what I've needed. Which was just the assembly manuals. Just in case.

Model Reviewed: GS-1 Medium Format Body

Strength:

Relatively small for a 6x7 system camera. Excellent lenses. Leaf shutter lenses. Simple operation.

Weakness:

Lens shutters need service after 5-10 years.

An underated camera. It does outstanding work, and should be considered by those who want a 6x7 full system camera that is particularly at home in the field, either hand-held (with the speed grip) or on a tripod.

Customer Service

Tamron service on Bronica is great! Fast and reasonably priced.

Similar Products Used:

Mamiya RB/RZ - very nice but large.
Pentax 6x7 - also very nice but no interchangeable backs.
