Strength:

Modular system, accurate metering, easy focusing, sharp lenses!, ISO dial on backs.

Weakness:

Sometimes a wish Mamiya made this camera in a 6X6 format to avoid camera flipping.

This is an excellent camera! Spot or center weight metering with AE prism. Accessories galore! You have a choice of leaf shutter lenses on non-leaf lenses. Non-leaf lenses are far less expensive than competitors leaf lenses, but can get leaf lensese if you need high speed shutter sync. Has a timer so you can get into the picture!
Picture quality is as sharp or sharper as any competitor! I am very pleased with mine. I have shot portraits, weddings and landscapes. I am planning on getting a 645 Pro for a backup at weddings.

Strength:

Excellent system, Excellent optics,
Great handling. This is a great system to get into because you money really has considerable punch. The AE Prsm meter is as dead on accurate as it can be.

Weakness:

Either make it 6x6 or give it some kind of revolving back. The electronic cable release for this camera is not designed well at all so be prepared to break them

I have owned several Mamiya cameras and have tried out Hasselblad and Bronica. Don't let anyone fool you, the lenses for the Mamiya system are every bit as good as Hassy. The body works like a champ and except for the flipping of the camera for verticals, for which you really need the prism finder, it is a wonderful camera to shoot. I will always be a loyal Mamiya user.

Customer Service

i purchased the mamiya 645 pro back in 1994 having decided to move on up from 35m. I had borrowed a freinds blad on seceral occasions and liked it but at the time money was a factor and haselblads were not cheap so i decide to purchase the pro with three lenses and accesories and i have not been dissapointed with it at all.
its never let me down, well the power drive is the only thing that has let me down but that is not the camera itself features i like are the mirror lock up,multi exposure, removable backs exellent when you do both colour and black and white, and its only takes a good five to ten minutes readind the manual and mamiya also throw in a handy pocket guide as well ,well they did when i bought mine. at one time i thought of getting the rz pro 2 but to be honest but i decided against it because the only real benefit was a 6*7 slide instead of a 6*4.5 and not really worth the extra investment to me personaly after all most editors will only accept nedium format images anyway be it whatever size . mamiya are fantastic whatever you choose

exellent

Strength:

Well made camera that is easy to handle. With the Auto Winder, you have a medium format camera that is close to the feel and ease of handling of a 35mm.

Weakness:

I've used Mamiya 645s for 15 years as an amateur and have not experienced any problems or defects.

This is an excellent camera for someone moving into the medium format from 35mm. With the auto winder, you have much of the feel of a 35mm with the advantages of medium format.

Strength:

It is much smaller than the other portrait type cameras and thus easier to use with its smaller lenses

Weakness:

I wish Mamiya would figure out the mirror slap problem. I've tried everything but if you don't bring up the mirror before each picture the mirror will vibrate the camera with such force that you have ruined your picture; it will look out of focus. I use the electronic shutter release, use heavy tripod, put my hand on top of the camera, bring the mirror up AND THEN press the button. I only wish someone had told me about Mamiya's mirror problem before I bought them and lenses. So now YOU know.

A lovely camera for general portraits.

Customer Service

The Mamiya people are saints. Whenever there is a problem they bend over backwards to solve it.
