Strength:
SIZE OF CAMERA BODY, SIZE OF NEGATIVE, SHARPNESS OF LENSES
Weakness:
VIEW FINDER INFORMATION THIS TYPE OF CAMERA FORMAT IS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS FOR CERTAIN THINGS. FOR ME, IT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MORE THAN 90% OF MY BLACK AND WHITE WORK AS WELL AS MOST OF MY SCENICS. I DO NOT FIND MEDIUM FORMAT TO BE THE OVERALL ANSWER FOR ALL OF MY PHOTOGRAPHIC WORK. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE BELIEVING SUCH A THING WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. HANG ON TO THAT 35mm SYSTEM FOR THE TELEPHOTO LENSES AND LONG ZOOMS. Customer Service UN-TESTED Similar Products Used: PENTAX 645N |

Strength:
Compact, light and very easy to work with. This is an excellent 6 X 7 camera.
Weakness:
None If you are looking for the best camera to produce outstanding images look no further. Mamiya 7 II is an excellent tool with exceptional lenses. Make no mistake this is not a 35mm auto everything camera. You have to work a little extra but your extra effort will produce the most outstanding photographs you can ever imagine. And finaly yes it is very expensive in the US market, but it worths every penny. Customer Service Not needed Similar Products Used: A pro 35mm EOS system with 3 cameras and 7 L lenses. |

Strength:
solid feel, very ergonomic, extremely bright viewfinder
Weakness:
slow process to change lens/film; expensive system Although having the camera just a short time, after several rolls of Provia 100F, I am totally blown away by the detail and depth to the 6X7 size. Focusing surprisingly easy, fast, and accurate with the 150 lens. Obviously, the rangefinder is not for everyone, but for landscapes, street candids, environmental portraiture, outdoor fashion, etc., it's hard to beat! Customer Service Great - body was missing the saftey cap for sync terminal - Cust Svc gave me # for parts dept who sent a few out to me no charge. Similar Products Used: Mamiya 645 |

Strength:
Light weight, small size for medium format, fabulous lenses, good metering system, easy to load film, sturdy construction--I fell on the ice and slammed the camera down on a gravel road, it took the abuse without any problem.
Weakness:
Like all range finders, not good for extreme close ups or macro work--so keep your 35 macro lenses I bought this camera with the 80mm lens last fall. After a month, I started leaving my Hasselblad at home. I later added the 150 mm lens and a wide angle. For travel, the body and 3 lens give me everything I need and just about everything I want. Strength:
Light, compact. WxHxD actually smaller than Canon EOS 1V but 4.5x larger film area. Excellent lenses. Very big enlargements still sharp at 900x700 mm. Robust construction. Whole kit of one body and four lenses only weighs 2.5 Kg and fits into a Lowepro Nova 3 bag.
Weakness:
You cannot have the benefits of rangefinder design without the less desirable aspects. Rangefinders need servicing, viewfinder does not show exactly what the film will record. You get accustomed to these things. Do not try to compare this camera with an automatic 35mm SLR. One body and four lenses gives the best imaging performance you can possibly get from 2.5 Kg Customer Service Satisfactory from Maxwell Optical in Sydney Similar Products Used: Pentax 67, FujiGSW6x9,Plaubel Makina, Seagull TLR |

Strength:
*Enormous detail from 6X7 negs
Weakness:
*Expensive( esp in US) I shot my first three rolls at a local botanical garden. The color saturation and detail totally blew away the same shots with a nikon F5 and 50mm lens. Too bad each shot with film and processing is .80 to 1.00 in cost. Customer Service *good tech support Similar Products Used: None |

7 II Camera Body
Strength:
big neg, relatively light weight.
Weakness:
Not durable, very plasticy for price A Texas Leica, except made of plastic, not a durable camera, lenses were sharp but 150 focal lenght minimum focus was 8 feet, hardly useful for portrait. I think the camera is a great concept but construction for the price is not there. Rangefinder focusing does not touch that of Leica's. I am disappointed with the product. 7 II Camera Body
Strength:
Lightweight, silent, sharp.
Weakness:
Of course everything is three times more expensive than 35 slides, but I duplicate images in both cameras and conserve the Mamiya for those magic shots. This is the first medium format camera I've owned and bought it on the recommendation of a friend. The 80 mm lens is similar to the 50 mm of a 35 mm camera. The Mamiya is lightweight and the shutter is virtually silent. The focus is sharp in both foreground and horizon, and the image quality is superb. You can use this camera without a tripod, which I've done from a ladder. With images from this baby, I've made posters, prints and magazine covers to raves from clients. It's been worth every penny. Customer Service Always used Freestyle in L.A., but never needed service on the body or lens. Similar Products Used: None |
