Camera locked up. Thought it was a dead battery, but new battery did not fix. Sent back to factory for evaluation and they reccomend a $100. overhaul! The camera is barely 1 1/2 years old! Not real impressed after using a Cannon sure shot for 20 years prior without a glitch.

Strength:

Zoomrange Ease of use

Weakness:

Little slow on shutter speed, but when youn know it you can handle it.

Very good camera, as long as you don''''t want to make action-pictures or nsap-shots that need to be quickly taken. Pictures are very sharp. I use it next to my Nikon SLR and sometimes I forget by wich camera a shot was made.

Strength:

Small and flat when not in use.

Weakness:

Too SLOW! Trying to capture a two year old is virtually impossible. I got some great shots of the floor after I got tired of waiting for the shutter.

Not impressed. Camera is extremely slow. Viewfinder is clear, but it is difficult to properly compose shots. Will be returning camera this weekend.

Strength:

Good for posed outdoor pix or scenery.

Weakness:

Absolutly rotten for ANY action shot. Even taking a simple pix of a cat or dog. It takes FOREVER for the camera to get around to taking the picture after you push the button. I wasn't able to take a picture of my daughter playing basketball. Even with 400 film. My pix had red eyes, even with so called "red eye reduction" feature. Didn't work for me!

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA. It isn't worth the money. TOOOOOOOOOO SLOW!!!!!
Actually, I took better pictures with a disposable camera than I did with this camera.
The main reason I bought this camera was because it was highly recommended by a leading consumer magazine. It was #4 on their list! They were WRONG about it!
I experimented with every type of photo. Scenery, outdoor, indoor, people, sports, pets. I shot at least 10 rolls in deciding my opinion.

Model Reviewed: Sure Shot 105 Zoom

Strength:

Takes excellent pictures. Many settings, very easy to use.Extremely lightweight.

Weakness:

Absolutely doesn't take pictures fast enough. Even in the "Real time" setting.Way, way too slow. I am happier with my Pentax. Also too often causes red eye. I don't use the red eye reduction setting because the real time setting shoots faster, so I am stuck with pics with redeye. Now I am going to buy a Canon Elan IIe for speed and more versatility.

Good pictures for the price, but there are better point and shoots on the market. The zoom is good for a point & shoot at this level. Bottom Line": If you're not happy with a camera take it back to the retailer right away.

Strength:

bright clear photos

Weakness:

Difficulty photographing children, pets, quick shots

I learned to adapt to its inability to snap quick pictures, and therefore I received some fabulous pictures. I was frustrated at first and never really knew how quick it would respond. I sold it to my sister and upgrade to a higher zoom with more options. Great for still shots or posed pictures.

Strength:

Great zoom for a point and shoot and very crisp pictures

Weakness:

Not good for action shots and the setting knob is not the easiest to grip.

I bought this camera as a gift for my wife. I can't recall what her previous camera was, but I can say she is much happier with the pictures this camera takes. Normally we get 3x5 prints, but I checked the wrong box last time and got 5x7. I was amazed a the detail and clarity of the pictures. They were mostly outside shots. The flash provides enough light when the subject isn't too far away and doesn't produce a washed out look. The other reviews are correct when it comes to action shots. This camera takes longer than most to expose the film after the button is pushed.

Strength:

Special offer: Cheap!!
Relatively compact for its zoom range.

Weakness:

Wery slow lens (small aperture) at 50-105mm, requiring flash unless photographing the sun :-), even at 400ASA.
Very slow shutter release, although RT-Mode works fine (but limits bells&whistles).
Red eye flash (as all compacts, exept Kodak Cobra-flash).
Extremely slow flash charging, even w/fresh batt.
Comparison shows underexp. and grainy pix, comp to non-zoom compact.

Even at this great price, I was disappointed, and took the camera back. It just does not do the job on photgraphing anyting but mountains in broad daylight using 38 mm setting and 800 ASA. Consider a shorter Zoom range, and way better aperture at the long end.

Strength:

Great zoom range,color/clarity of pics,lightweight,auto-built-in lense cover, easy to use.

Weakness:

somewhat slow even in real time, function knob a little hard to manipulate.

This is my first "quality" point and shoot. This is a great camera for a beginner. Pic quality is AMAZING! My father in law has Canon Rebel EOS, and the pic quality is very close to the EOS. Yes, it is slow for action shots, but come on, if you are looking for professional action shot quality, don't buy a point and shoot...GET A REAL CAMERA!!! Don't expect the product to do what YOU want to do..it can only do what it was made to do! This camera is great for what it is...a point and shoot, not a professional photography camera!
