Canon Sure Shot Owl PF Point and Shoot

Canon Sure Shot Owl PF Point and Shoot

DESCRIPTION

This fully automatic 35mm camera is so sleek and lightweight, you'll want to take it everywhere you go. The Canon Sure Shot Owl PF offers an oversized viewfinder that's three times wider than a normal viewfinder, allowing for easier picture composing - especially for people who wear glasses. The Owl PF's 3-step Auto-Focus technology gives you sharp images from as close as 2.6 feet. You'll also enjoy Auto Exposure and Auto Film Load.

Strength:

-- Large viewfinder. -- Sharp images. -- ALL GLASS LENS. -- Flash cancel and fill flash. -- Seems sturdy. (For plastic.)

Weakness:

-- Only accepts ISO 100, 200, 400 film. -- Manual specifically says you can't use slide film in it. (We'll see.)

Purchased the camera at Sears on sale for $40. I've taken close up and landscape shots outdoors and I am very impressed with the sharpness of the 35mm/f3.8 all-glass lens on the OWL PF. I've had other cameras that cost more but the picture was not as sharp. I use Fujifilm Superia 400, which I like because it has fine grain for 400 speed film. However, I have not used the flash to any great extent, which the PF stands for Power Flash. I took a picture of some objects indoors at close range, 3-4 feet away and the flash did NOT wash out the picture. It has a simple autofocus system in it and I have found that it works just fine. I don't know how much abuse it would take, but for a "bang around" point and shoot camera I think this is worth the money. I particularly like the large viewfinder. I wear glasses at times and have no trouble taking pictures with this camera. Also, it has midroll rewind which is nice because I'm not one to "finish out a roll."

Strength:

Light, about once every 50 pictures you get an amazing shot, everything must be 150% perfect for this to happen!

Weakness:

easily damaged, lens moves and gives you blurry pictures, if you give your camera to someone else to take a picture they never take it right, you have to push the button 1/2 way down, wait for a green light to stop flashing, then push the botton all the way down. Red eye reduction doesn't work at all. Can't do close ups, they come out blurry everytime.

Not a good camera. 1/3 rd of the pictures don't turn out due to this green light problem, I lost rolls of film due to the lens that moved and I didn't know, half the picture was blurry, the other 1/2 clear.

Strength:

Definitely the view finder...any one with tri-focals would appreciate the size.
Very good for taking family pictures indoors and outside. This has been my favorite camera for easy point and shoot photography. Just grab the camera and shoot.

Weakness:

small buttons for turning off the flash are hard to use.

I will always look for the larger view finder like the canon owl
