Strength:

Price, simplicity.

Weakness:

I've only shot two rolls of film in 11 months of owning this camera. Both sets of photos came back grainy and totally out of focus. The staff at London Drugs insist it's not a problem with the Konica 400 film, and cite a focus issue with the camera as the problem. Unfortunately I was already an 8-hour drive from home and unable to produce my receipt, so the camera couldn't even be sent for repair unless I paid $25 up front, and likely a minimum $100 for repair. Considering I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip to Ireland, this is a major drag!

Looks like an impressive camera at a reasonable price, but see comments below.

Customer Service

As mentioned above, traveling 8 hours from home without the original receipt is a problem. I can either buy another camera (which will not be a Konica!) or embark on a lifetime trip with no camera! Thanks Konica, and London Drugs!

Strength:

Light weight, a very nice design. The lens has a better aperture range (3.6 - 10.6) as most other P&S cameras with this zoom range. The lens is sharp enough for occasional photography. The camera control is very simple. The flash is relatively strong (guide number 15) compared to other P&S cameras (mostly guide number 11).

Weakness:

The lens is moved axially immediately before the exposure is done. It is very annoying and can cause unsharp pictures (it is a common feature of the other Konica cameras, too, i.e. 120 VP and Lexio 70). The selftimer cannot be combined with all exposure modes, only a fully automatic mode without red eye reduction is possible. For long time exposures or selfportrait in other modes an optional remote control is necessary. No information (warning) about the flash necessity in low light conditions - the camera has only one green LED for autofocus. It can caused underexposed pictures in automatic mode outside of the limited flash range (street and landscape pictures).

The camera picture above is a mistake, it is not the Konica Z-up110 VP (new product) but the Konica 110 VP Super (an older design). The Konica Z-up 110 VP is a new design with a pretty look. The zoom range 38 - 110 mm is very reasonable for an occasional photography. The one button camera control is simple but it brings the disadvantage the selftimer works in fully automatic mode only. It is a limitation especially if long time exposures should be done. The optional remote control is therefore a good accessory. The camera flash is very good, it covers the entire picture format, a special flash management used in all new Konica cameras saves the battery power. The lens moving before each exposure is very strange and not good for doing sharp pictures. Altogether a fairly good holiday and occasional camera for money.

Model Reviewed: Z-Up 110 Super QD

Strength:

Lightweight and compact, with an excellent zoom range. Good features, and came with film/batteries/minipod... virtually ready to shoot from the box

Weakness:

Some very inconsistent results from mis-focusing.
Also, the lens cover kept falling off when the camera was turned off (only ran 3-4 rolls through it)

Overall, the results were not consistent, and assembly was poor. I want a product that doesn't have parts that fall off with fairly light use.
I returned the camera.
