Weakness:

None

This camera is outstanding it has everything you need to take stunning photos. It is exquisitely made like a swiss watch it is understated, sturdy and an absolute classic.
whilst it is not a cheap camera and rather rare it is built to last a lifetime. The more you use it the more you'll fall in love with it.

Strength:

fantastic ED lens, 3d metering on a Pn'S, better gift than a diamond or Gold artcraft, but not the 99.99%

Weakness:

weak flash, output is film specific, shutter really lag on red-eye

Used it on reala w/ great prints on Matte on an AGFA machine. Kodachrome came o.k., underexposed ones are useless. Construction is very detailed. Film specific, some brand of film came out better than others. A good show off, but not a effective photographic tool, if you know shutter speed, aperature, and have a tripod, Get a F100/N90 if use flash, or w/o flash go cheap with a FM10/FE2, save the money for ANY lens. The 28ti is way too expensive, feel good in hands once a while, doesn't justify quality.

Strength:

The 28ti has a superb lens in any respect. It has virtually no flare, no distortion, very little fall-off and is incredibly sharp, even when compared with other 28mm Nikkor slr lenses! Metering, consisting of Nikon''s 6 segment 3D Matrix system, or center-weighted, is the most sophisticated system on a P&S I know of. The camera offers a wide variety of overrides that are quick and easy to use. The 28ti is VERY sturdy for this class of camera. Plastic is only used where it is obviously the best choice for the part. Its small enough to take anywhere. In addition to all its functional virtues, there is the undeniable value of having one of the absolute best quality point and shoot cameras ever produced. Even in the so called "posh point and shoot" crowd this camera commands an enviable presence. I don''t want to "put down" other high end cameras and thus hurt the feelings of their owners, but I''ve looked very closely and the other major players from Leica and Contax, and in terms of build quality, they don''t impress me. I''ve borrowed a T2 from a good friend and fellow photographer and gadget nut. It took pretty good pictures. I recently let him borrow my user 28ti, upon

Weakness:

While the Nikon 28ti is reasonably well sized, not too big, not too small, its shaped like a brick, and while shooting I get the impression it''s somewhat ergonomically-challenged. It''s Somewhat noisier than other high-quality P&S''s. It has no AE lock, which the excellent metering only partially makes-up for in really weird lighting. It is considerably more expensive that most "Posh Point&Shoot" cameras. You''ll only get ooohs and aaahs from the hopelessly nerdy, gear-head snob photographers who recognize it as the rich-mans Contax:-)

How much did you pay for that thing?!? I''ve heard that question one too many times. This is an expensive camera, period... Is it worth it? To some, that''s a dumb question. To many owners of this outrageous camera, it is an art object, to be coveted, shown-off, and used sparingly. It is these people that justify its cost based on its form and its potential as a collectors item over its superb function. I''ll admit, I''m quite proud of my Nikon 28ti, but you''ll more often see it around my neck than on my mantle. Mine is used almost daily, and after nearly a year of use and over 100 rolls of slide film alone, I bought another. Yes, the sentimental slob-of-a collector in me, got the better of me, and now I have one for my neck and one for my mantle. I couldn''t help myself, I found a new-old stock 28ti at a dealer who''s only familiarity with the camera was from the 9 annual inventory inspections the thing had been through. After dusting off the price tag, I managed to pick it up for somewhat less than my user, which I bought used! If this camera took lousy pictures, It would have been back on ebay in a heartbeat. Quite the contrary, the quality this camera puts on film is stunning, especially for a point and shoot camera - albeit one that costs nearly a Grand!

Strength:

Titanium body, matrix & center weighted metering, matrix metered fill flash, aperture priority, program and T mode. very useful panorama frame, easy to read analogue display, manual AF setting, exposure compensation, slow sync flash down to 1/4 sec in P, 1/30 in AP. Superb & fast 28/2.8 lens.

Weakness:

Lack of manual ISO setting, filters can''t be used, top shutter speed tad too slow (1/500) would like to see 1/1000 or faster, lack of autobracketing, miniscule flash power, lens too noisy when extending or retracting. Feature to program camera “ film leader out” missing. AE lock not possible when using AF lock. Hot shoe for use with speedlights would be great! Be careful when using AP mode and interior flash in dark situations- the camera will shoot at down to 1/4 sec- very easy to blur the shots, better to use the P mode w/ flash (1/30).

The 28Ti is the obvious choice for me in the P&S department, for several reasons; Very few of these were made and it has become highly sought after- it will easily keep its value. The black titanium housing is strong enough to probably stop a bullet in its track. Understated design and aestethics. Even the camera door is metal which demonstrates that Nikon didn''t spare any costs to assemble this beauty! As intuitively easy to use as most of their SLR’s (except the data crap). Top instrument panel adds a nice classic touch. Very minimalistic regarding buttons and functions, only what you really need is what this camera has, wowsers. The compact size makes it a constant companion of mine which lets me enjoy simple landscapes or still lifes without logging around a heavy and "professional" looking camera. You become less of target yourself without sacrificing the precision and brilliance of a 35mm Pro SLR. The features are just what a pro would look for, shiftable program for the "on-the-fly" shots, aperture priority (which I use 90% of the time) and "T" feature for timed exposures which is a bonus when doing night shots up to 10 minutes on a tripod. All this lets you take control of your photo in the purest way. Another great feature is the manual AF override which, again is very easy to use when shooting action setups within a preset distance. AF lock is nice but should be coupled with AE lock at the same time which unfortunately isn''t available with this camera. Exposure compensation is also useful, especially since the ASA cannot be dialed in manually (major drawback for any P&S that claims to be pro-oriented). I would have liked to see autobracketing as well. The flash functions ( anytime flash/no flash / auto) are all I could ask for and I use all three modes frequently. They are easily changed by moving a switch.. Nikon;s legendary flash matrix technolgy applies here with demanding authority; perefctly balanced flash photos with daylight shots all the time, flash syncs up to the max shutter speed of 1/500sec. Auto flash in AP is down to 1/4 sec 1/30 in Program mode, great touch and useful for allowing some ambient light into the photo in interior situations. A cable release socket would be useful (or remote control). WONDERFUL SHARP 28MM/2.8 LENS!!! Flare is well controlled (could be better with a non-available accessory shade) and with the built in
