Strength:

Great Quality Lens
Fast Autofocus
Excellent Range 28 to 110
Fits nicely in the hand.
Aperture priority mode along with full auto and other preset program modes.
Small size
Great Looks!!!
Built in Lens cap.
Powerful flash & spot metering.

Weakness:

Wish there were manual focus overrides.
Shutter speed indication.
Camera's autofocus sometimes gets confused when rear objects are brighter than the closer ones.

Overall, the quality and the versatality of this cam beats my old SLRs hands down in ease of use and the Glass lenses make the results of this cam far superior to any you could hope to achieve from a P&S!!!
The Price is great as well!!! A great buy!!!

Strength:

The full auto features. The portrait setting seems particularly nice.

Weakness:

Short battery life - only went through 7 rolls before having to replace the battery. The autofocus has difficulty focusing under low light conditions whereas other cameras have no problem at all. Cannot turn off that annoying red eye reduction pre flash.

I purchased this camera in the hope of getting a full auto SLR with great quality. This is definitely not a good camera for sports events and has trouble focusing in lower light conditions. There is no way to turn off that sometimes annoying red eye reduction preflash that delays taking pictures.

It got slipped frm my hand from a certain height (enough to break a bear mug) and surprised its still working gr8.This is a wonderful cross between a 'point and shoot' and versatile SLR.

Strength:

Light, compact easy to hold.
Great lens range, will cover most snapshot situations.
Good flash.

Weakness:

Will not autofocus easily (at all?) in a very dark picture taking situation.

This camera is a ZLR and does not take interchangeable lenses. You are paying about what you would pay for a comparable Nikon, Canon or Minolta basic autofocus kit with 35-80mm zoom lens. The difference here is that you are getting a high quality lens with the camera, that will cover 95% of your snapshot needs, without ever having to buy another lens. With most of the other comparably priced cameras, you are getting trash for a lens and will have to pay about as much for a decent lens as you paid for the camera.

The 28mm to 110mm lens is well covered by the excellent flash that is built on the camera. Ounce for ounce this is one very underrated picture taking machine. It carries on the fine tradition of Olympus in 35mm camera history--although they seem to have forsaken 35mm for digital these days.

Strength:

Compact, light weight, no "attachments" to fool with. Easy to use. Built in zoom. Love the preset modes. Excellent quality. And finally, really cool looking camera--draws lots of comments!

Weakness:

Takes a few second to fire up and noisy in the process.
Wish there was a manual focus over-ride.

Coming from my old Minolta XG-M (which finally died away), this is a whole new world. Flash & zoom built-in make for ultimate convenience. Fantastic pictures with a limited measure of creativity. While on vacation, I handed the camera to some other tourists to take a snapshot of wife and me--not a single one of them had trouble using it! Great for snapshotters, as well as "semi-serious" photographers like myself. I love it!

Strength:

Impressive lense quality
Usable flashlight, unlike most P&S
Short length of aspherical lense
Spot light metering

Weakness:

place of the zoom-button should be positioned elsewhere, like on the is-3000.
The AF is a bit hesitant in low light conditions, but it will find it's target
The plastic body does not look very sturdy

professionals: buy a "normal" SLR. "picture-takers": try it! It gives you time to focus on composition and even the biggest amateur will notice the high lense quality.

Customer Service

Good, good, good!

Strength:

Easy to use, unique styling, large lense, very ergonomic design.

Weakness:

No manual focus, no easy lense upgrades.

I love this camera. Every picture I take with it comes out within what I expected when I took the picture. The built-in lense cover is a neat idea that works well. If this camera had a 28-200 lense and manual focus, it would be perfect.
The noise when turning the camera on, as well as the few seconds it takes in doing so, are a bit annoying when compared with 'true' SLRs, however, this camera is more of a hybrid of point and shoot mixed with SLR, so I accept the noise and turn on time as part of that mix.

Model Reviewed: IS-20 DLX

Strength:

Long zoom range 28-110mm
Good sharpness
Easy to use
Powerful flash
Fast AF
Looks really cool

Weakness:

Small viewfinder area (~85%)
Takes long time to power on & off
Noisy zoom operation
Powerzoom eats batteries
No manual over-ride
No shutter-speed indication
Inconsistent exposures in contrasty situations
built-in lens cap may cause lens to JAM!!

If you want good results with minimun fuss, not concerned with all the technicalities about shooting, this all-in-one camera is for you. Way better than any compact camera, except in size and cost.

Strength:

Compact, easy to use.

Weakness:

Auto focus does not work well under low light. No manual focus.

Point and shoot with SLR results. The lens is quite good. The zoom range is far better than average p&s or SLR/lens combo on the market at a very attractive price.

The autofocus does not work well under low light. The camera will not shoot when it think it is out of focus. There is no manual focus the over come it.

Customer Service

Ok, but expect long hold on phone.
