Strength:

Excellent range of shutter speeds. Fast f2.8 lens. Extremely portable and smartly designed. Takes fine pictures.

Weakness:

infinity lock would be nice-camera is easily puzzled by glass. 2 zone light metering occasionally leads to overexposure in contrasty outdoor scenes. Spot metering helps out with this to some degree, but setting spot meter mode is a bit tricky. Redeye inherent due to flash proximity to lens, but the funky disco strobe redeye reducer helps to some degree and is always entertaining!

Epic vs Yashica T4? Epic is smaller, has a faster lens, better strap, and a few more features. T4 has a semi-mythical Zeiss lens which does help it take better exposed and slightly sharper pictures. Shooting slides w the T4 generally work out better than with the Stylus, but slide film with a pocket camera is a bit of a mismatch. However, the T4 sells for 67% more than the Stylus. That's an awful lot more to pay for a slower lens...Conclusion: buy em both! If you can have only one though, get the Stylus. Great all around tool!

Strength:

This is my third camera; I got it because I needed something small enough to fit in a pocket to capture all the random moments in life. It is super sharp; my pictures are always well exposed. And it's tiny!!

Weakness:

I took it kayaking; it wasn't submerged but it got splashed. And died, only three months after I got it.

A really great tiny camera for when your SLR is too big. But now i'm skeptical about the weatherproofness.

Customer Service

(See above). I sent the dead camera back to Olympus--there's a 1 year warrenty. They told me I had submerged it in water and so the warrenty was invalid; the repair was going to cost $85. The camera sells for $89. Hmmm.

The other p&s I have is a pentax, which has a zoom but is much larger. But seems to be more weatherproof.

Strength:

Clarity of lense, ease of use, Lightweight and small

Weakness:

Only one focal length

A small lightweight p+s camera I use for Hiking and backpacking trips. Excellent clarity lense that captures plenty of light. But only one focal length is limiting. Shutter times to 4 seconds are great for evening shots. Reproduction is very good from one frame edge to the other. Would highly recommend to anyone. Also seems to be fairly weather resistant and durable.

Strength:

Fast f/2.8 lens! Very compact, size almost like an APS camera. Weatherproof. Good shutter speed range. Quiet operation. Quality built.

Weakness:

Small buttons, but I can live with that. No infinity setting (you can't shoot through glass as it will focus on the glass)

This is a very small and light camera. It slips into my pocket and I actually forget that its there. If you are looking for a no nonsense quality P&S camera, this is it. My Leica Mini 3 is excellent too but larger and heavier, I ended up taking this camera. Buy this gem.

Strength:

Super fast lens, compact and easy to carry, spot metering, simple to use and a vewry high resolution lens

Weakness:

none that I can see

Having looked at the other cameras in this category-the Yashica T4 and the Rollei Prego cameras,I find that this camera is by far the best of the bunch.I have taken 6 rolls of film so far and didn't get a bad picture in the whole bunch!! The colors and detail are awesome!!! I was very impressed and I LOVE the spot meter which allows you to overide any lighting situation. I intend to get great pictures from this camera for along time. By the way,I've had a Minolta 35 mm SLR(X-700) so I know what good pictures look like!!! This camera is a keeper. It is one of those cameras that are classics!!! Anyone who wants a simple understated camera that puts out-this is it!!!!!!!!!!!

Strength:

Size, quality build. Clarity (when it focuses correctly)

Weakness:

Flash-useless. It doesn't focus on what I'd like it to. Seems to grab the closest object and focus on that. Maybe spot metering will help.

I'd like something the size of the epic that took pictures as well as the T4.

I wasn't expecting much when I bought this camera, just a small palm size cool-looking camera with clam shell cover. the one I have is the limited edition. When I got the pictures back, they were nothing short of amazing. The fine detail I got of European cathedrals, castles in bright sunshine, indoors the stained glass detail showed in spite of low light. I used Kodak Gold 100. Wow ! No vignetting of blue skies (which I experienced in the yashica T4)

Strength:

Small and lightweight
Excellent fast lens

Weakness:

RedEye in flash
Slight shutter delay

Great "carry at all times" camera. It takes sharp, well exposed, generally excellent 4X6 color prints. I take it everywhere; especially useful when you don't want to lug that SLR around. I recommend it for someone who wants excellent snapshots. If you don't mind "zooming with your feet", this camera will deliver better results than almost any p&s.

Strength:

Great Pictures!
Ease of use; straight forward interface.
Advanced features (e.g., spot meter)

Weakness:

People who wear glasses may have difficulty seeing the lights in the view finder which indicate whether the flash will fire.

It took me much trial and error to discover that the film cassette clicks into place when loading. This holds the film flat. Without knowing this, loading film is difficult. This is not clearly explained in the manual.

This is a great camera! Its small size gives you no excuse for saying, "I wish I had a camera!" It produces sharp pictures, and gives a good selection of features. The spot meter feature is one you would expect only on more expensive cameras. I am very pleased with this camera. The trouble is my SLR equipment isn't used as much since I got this camera!
