Strength:

Size
Weight
Lens is fully encased in the camera when closed
Sharp photographs
Fill in flash
2 year warranty (in Australia)
Diopter adjustment

Weakness:

Slow zoom - It seems the battery is struggling to move the lens even though it is brand new.
Short strap - it isn't long enough to to place diagonally across your shoulder to your hip. It can only hang loosely around your neck so it is more prone to being knocked around.
Possibly difficult to load film

This camera is marketed as the Olympus mju II Zoom 115 in Australia. After running two 400 asa films through the camera, I am pleased with the results so far. The pictures are sharp and clear.

The 115 zoom is great after using a camera with a smaller zoom. I have read that a camera with a larger zoom can be a little difficult to master but so far I have not had any problems with this. All you need is a steady hand and to take a moment or two to plan the photo.

After carrying around my Fuji, which now looks and feels like a brick by comparision, I find the size and weight of the Olympus to be a winner.

I like the fact that the lens is fully enclosed within the camera when switched off. It gives a smooth line which is great for placing it in your pocket.

I specifically wanted a camera with fill-in-flash functionality so this considerably narrowed down the range of P&S cameras available to me. I find this feature works well and doesn't wash out the photo.

After swapping the original strap to a longer one, I feel just as comfortable with the camera hung diagonally across my shoulder to my hip as in my pocket.

I have found it a bit difficult to load film. I'm not sure if that is because my Fuji basically did it for me and I still need to get used to the Olumpus way of loading film.

At $480.00 AUD, it is considered one of the more expensive P&S cameras. I feel this is justified by the Olympus workmanship, features, camera size and weight.

So far, I couldn't be happier with my choice but I will soon be putting it to the test on a scenic holiday.

As mentioned in the strengths, it is reassuring to know that the camera is under warranty for 2 years in Australia.

None from this era of super small and light P&S cameras. It replaces my Fuji DL900 which died after 10 years of good service.

Just another P&S. Worked with occasional use the broke just outside warranty. Repair costs not justified. Typical of throwaway product

Fatal problem -- this camera leaks light

Had this camera for 2+ years now. Initially it worked fine. After about a year, it developed a light leak on the upper right side. The problem is intermittent. Do a web search on "olympus light leak" and found out that I am not alone. I would be very careful about buying Olympus P&S cameras.

Customer Service

Don't want the hassle -- planning to buy a new one. No more Olympus cameras.

Strength:

It takes great pictures. For my first really nice camera and my inexperience, I am impressed at the quality of the pictures.

Weakness:

As everybody mentioned, it is rather slow to open.

I would definitely recommend this camera for beginners like myself. It takes excellent quality pictures under almost any condition.

Unfortunately, after three years, the "door" broke and the zoom would not go back in when I tried to close the "door." After about an hour, it finally went back in but I was not able to open it again. Now I am torn between fixing it for $97 or getting a new one (in which case I would get the same one). I can't decide if fixing it is worth it or not. This camera has not once disappointed me so I am leaning towards getting it fixed. Obviously, if I'm considering such a costly repair, I really like this camera.

I hope none of you ever have to find out for yourselves but the Olympus Repair people are very friendly and helpful.

If you're considering buying this camera, go for it!

Strength:

I have the older champagne-colored deluxe edition of this camera. Took about 10 rolls of film on a white-water rafting trip in the Grand Canyon. Camera held up pretty well-- through some splashing and some rain. Prints came out nicely. Been using it for casual shots of friends and have gotten decent results.

Weakness:

The motor is kind of slow. Lens is relatively slow, especially for zoom. Results have been mixed for zoom shots.

A nice compact P&S for casual photography. Very easy to use and takes relatively sharp pictures. Weather-proof features makes this great for outdoor use.

Strength:

very compact, has a good range of zoom abilities, and can even do panoramic, has lots of flash ranges including no flash for times when flash is not allowed.(this works great if using a high speed film such as 800.)

Weakness:

Still learning the wide range of flash options

This is a good little camera, light and sleek to fit into purses and such, comes with it' s own carrying case. I like the fact that it takes great no or low light pictures with the high speed film.

Customer Service

I bought my camera at an electronic store and got very good service, and price( I got a $100 discount because it didn't have a box!)

Model Reviewed: Stylus Zoom 115 Camera

Strength:

The camera is very small and can be put in a pocket. It's there when you want it. Relatively full featured for a point and shoot - it lets you control flash and lets you prefocus and lock in the exposure. Handy and unusual for such a small point and shoot. It also has a dioptre adjustment (like high level SLR's!)

Weakness:

Slow to open - the motor has to run the lens out - you do lose shots. Focusing is not all that fast either and probably abit inaccurate. The flash pops up all the time and I suspect it will break sooner or later. No way to adjust exposure (compensate). Slowish lens - you NEED 400 film. View finder is crummy - small and you have to be right up against it to see through it - image is teeny too. Exposure accuracy is OK but don't run slide film through it if you really need those pictures. But then again most people buying this camera just want a point and shoot and won't care about this stuff.

A good compromise of features and compactness. It's a pretty good second (or third or fourth) camera to take along in your pocket for party shots etc. with some ability to shoot more seriously. The exposure and focus lock are useful and the zoom ratio is fabulous. The exposure and flash options are often handy. However, consider whether you really need the zoom range since the Stylus with no zoom is even smaller, has a better viewfinder and has a faster lens.
