Pentax IQ Zoom 928 Point and Shoot

Pentax IQ Zoom 928 Point and Shoot

DESCRIPTION

You just can't beat a wide angle lens for capturing the whole gang in the picture. The IQZoom 928 has earned a ground-swell of support from serious photographers who need a point and shoot. This may be because of the multi coated lens . . . or the ability to override the exposure. You'll need to decide for yourself.

Strength:

28-90mm
straightforward controls
handy remote holder on strap (a small pocket in the case would be better though)
reasonable size

Weakness:

lens cover is a little flimsy

I love this camera. The lens range is perfect! I'm surprised more cameras aren't made with a 28-90mm. The wide angle is great for indoor shots where space is tight and outdoor shots where you want the vista. The zoom gives just the extra oomph needed for catching shots that are physically out of reach. Great camera for traveling.

Customer Service

Haven't needed it. Considered ordering a copy of the manual in English (bought mine in China), but it wasn't really necessary. Nice that they offered that option though.

Strength:

Wide 28mm lens

Weakness:

Reliability, Size

The 28mm to 90mm range is great. Especially for indoor shots when you can't get any further back. Its a bit big compared to newer point and shoots though. Reliability is a big problem. I've had two 928s so far. Both broke down after about 2 years - the zoom mechanism being the main culprit. Otherwise, I love the camera. Considering the 105SW now though.

Strength:

Good wide-angle zoom range
Reasonably fast f/3.5-8.9 lens
Sharp
Easy to use, feels good in hand.
Good viewfinder
Good range of flash modes and features
Viewfinder is directly above lens; makes framing a bit more accurate

Weakness:

Slightly bulky

Woo! I LOVE this camera. More than 10 rolls shot, and not ONE mis-exposed, mis-focused shot. 28mm lens is certainly useful.

Model Reviewed: IQ Zoom 928

Strength:

compact, has plenty of over-rides if you want them, and a wide angle lense to mild telephoto.
It also has a macro mode, red-eye reduction mode (plus complete flash control), and exposure compensation settings.

Weakness:

Not with mine or my brother's that was used at the Great Wall in China in January (when the 35 AF SLRs wouldn't work)!

This is a compact camera with a 28-90 lense. It fits into your jacket or pack, will easily do group shots or landscapes,close-ups (macro), and allows plenty of over-rides if you want them.

Customer Service

Haven't needed any.
