Strength:

Great zoom range, fine ergonomics, lighted dial, sophisticated exposure metering. Well built. Sharp optics

Weakness:

Distorsion at short end of zoom range. Very high barrel distorsion, which makes it impossible to take pictures of buildings.

A good camera for "weekend photographers", provided one is not going to shoot architectural subjects; if you do, distorsion will be very prominent.

Customer Service

Reasonably good, although not so fast

Strength:

Size, battery use, lenses, takes picture more quickly after button is pressed than most P&S

Weakness:

somewhat slow to advance.

I used this camera during a 5 month bike tour of Europe and the Middle East. It held up remarkably well, even when we bike through Ireland (soggy)! The pictures we took were extremely clear. Although we avoided using the zoom whenever possible, it did not result in huge losses in picture quality. I recommend this camera to all my friends for casual photography.

Strength:

Sharp contrast and focus
Great depth of field
Easy to hold and use

Weakness:

Does not fit into pocket as well as others

I have tried various P&S cameras with a zoom to find one that gives me the picture quality I get with my Stylus Epic. The Vivitar, Accura 105 and Pentax all produced average pictures--not great. Then I tried the Microtec 120. The first roll of film (Kodak Max 400) produced four pictures worthy of enlarging and framing. I took the prints back to lab where I bought the camera; they, too, were amazed at the quality. The contrast is sharp, and the depth of field when using the close-up feature is marvelous. I have a Canon EOS A2E with various lenses that will now be called upon only when I need something longer than 120mm, or when I want to look like a "pro." This camera is very, very good.

Strength:

Excellent passive/IR autofocus, smmoth band driven zoom and a tack sharp lens.

Weakness:

The Yashica name and the bulge of the lens in
the viewfinder.

I took it to Miami becuase it was a slow seller and I didn't think it would be missed. My resulting images were superb (for a point and shoot).

Customer Service

Mediocre like most manufacturers... 4-8
weeks if they don't assess "impact damage".

Strength:

Great features, dial lights up. Nice zoom and fast lens.

Weakness:

View finder on this particular camera was blurry.

Camera has great features and the one roll of test film I used came out fine. Unfortunatly the view finder was blurry. I had a difficult time trying to compose a shot in low light. I could have lived with it, but since this was a present, we had to get another camera. I wanted to try another Yashica but this was the last one.

Strength:

The most attractive thing about this camera is that it uses the real glass lenses instead of cheap plastic. The result is awesome contrast, rivaled only by manual and SLR camera. It's also packed with features, easy to use, and fit in your pocket.

Weakness:

I took it to the beach one day and ruined it, probably because water or sand got in.

It's the casual camera that produces professional result.

Customer Service

My warranty expired, so I didn't try to fix it. But it served me well for the past 4 years of usage.
