    Strength:

A-priority and viewfinder info. Most importantly, it is quiet, takes lieca optics and is small enough to take anywhere (the real reasons for buying for buying any M camera). This camera may seem expensive, but I still contend that it is value for money. They hold their value well and never become obsolete.

    Weakness:

Added dependency on batteries. On/off switch. No exposure lock in A-priority mode (at least that I''m aware of)

M7''s apeture priority and DX coding make the camera quicker and easier to use. The camera almost becomes a manual focus point and shoot. The inclusion of shutter speed info in the view finder is a nice to have and done very well. The new shutter mechanism is very quiet. A bit more plastic than the M6. As time passes, I doubt whether I will find myself using the A-priority as much as I am now (novelty factor). Not obvious whether the camera has exposure lock, which limits the usefulness of A-priority for my type of photography (need to read manual!). All this automation has drawbacks, including the very limited choice of shutter speeds in the event of battery failure. I have often found the batteries on my M6''s to run low at the most inopportune times, but have been saved by the fact that the shutter speed function is independent of the batteries. I have lost a few photo opps with the M7 because the camera was switched off (stupid I know, but never a problem with the M6). I never use flash with this camera system, so all the new flash capability isn''t too valuable to me. Now might be a good time to pick up a cheap M6, as I''m sure a lot of trade-ins are occuring. I will continue to use both versions - there are some things I like better about the M6.

    Strength:

Typically great "M" quality. Aperature Priority a real plus. Quiet and rock solid. DX encoding handy.

    Weakness:

    Expensive.

I have had the M7 for about 2 weeks and have fired off about 5 rolls of film already. The new paerature priority is a real plus, though as a M6 TTL owner I feel as though I have gone a bit to the "dark side". The limited automation and features that have been introduced do nothing to diminish the unique and fabulous experience of "M" photography. I recommend the camera highly.

    Strength:

Silence, build quality, feel, handling, lenses

    Weakness:

Price, awkward film loading, rangefinder whiteout

If you like a classy rangefinder that is built well, silent and automated, and have the money, this is a no-brainer.
