I'm taking a black and white photography class for fun. I have done some photo lab work before, and this paper was much easier to print good quality prints on.

This is a good overall paper to use for general printing. It can be very forgiving. Contrast control is a big plus.

Strength:

Easy to obtain, Consistant, very easy to use, fast chemistry tones well, dries flat looks great.

Weakness:

Good enough to prevent you from graduating onto top quality FB materials.

The Satin finish is my favorite with good deep blacks given the semi-mat surface. Doesn't have the quality of the more traditional FB papers but its alot quicker to use and for general purpose good enough. Unless you are specificaly shooting for a very-very fine quality print in the Ansel Adams mold, its difficult to justfiy using anything else.

Strength:

Easy to work with, Consistent, and does well with toners.

Weakness:

This paper is great. It comes in different finishes andit requires a lot less attention then any FB paper. For quick prints that hsve some punchy tones this paper is defently a good investment. Overall this paper produces some superb images for the price.

Strength:

Versatile (can be used for photofinishing, fine art photos etc.)
Relatively affordable (versus fiber papers).

Weakness:

Neutral Image Colour??Glossy is best but the Pictures look a bit on the green side even with Ilford chemicals. Must be my tap water.

I've been using Ilford RC and FB papers. I will probably switch to a different brand of VC papers because of the above mentioned weakness.

Customer Service

The Ilford website is great because it has tons of scientific info. They know how to keep their customers happy.
