Saunders 6700 Dichroic Enlargers

Saunders 6700 Dichroic Enlargers

DESCRIPTION

Feature for feature, dollar for dollar, the D6700 is the best value in color enlargers anywhere. The D6700 is an outstanding choice for black and white as well. The dichroic filters can be dialed to B&W variable contrast filter equivalents. What's more, the diffusion-type light is much more tolerant of scratched or dusty negatives, making printing much easier; a worthwhile consideration, especially for school use.

In my years in the darkroom, I have never used a more versatile and easy to use enlarger. The roller springs are great with the easy lock mechanism. Obviously the best enlarger for the price.

Strength:

High price, good specification, most functions easy and smooth in operation. Stays in alignment indefinitely.Tilt movements available for perspective correction. roller spring are weak.

Weakness:

In orginal shape supplied the blades in the four blade neg carrier do not move far enough apart to reveal the full 56 x 70 mm frame. This is easily fixed by dismantling the carrier and filing down the blades a little. which is a tension. The image in the grain magnifier tends to move sideways slightly when focussing. This is not a big problem but is mildly annoying. then the spring is too weaks and does not support rapid jobs.

LPL ofJapan, this enlarger is marketed as the LPL C7700MX outside USA. It is well designed, well made, versatile and reliable. So is 6700. If you never want to print larger than 6x7cm size this unit will cover all B&W and colour requirements in fine style. Easy to use with 35mm

Strength:

Price, Filtration

Weakness:

focusing, modularity

A fairly solid enlarger. Suffers from a slight difficulty in focusing, and lack of extra parts to customize. It would be nice if there was a way to extend the column. OTOH it isn't too hard to reverse it.

Good if you don't plan to make big prints too often.

Customer Service

very good via email
