I bought this scanner two years ago (including Photoshop 4, Fotolook scan software, Fototune profiling software) and had great results for a beginner. I do most of my photography on 6x7cm and this scanner delivered good scans to use up to A4. The software offers the possibility to scan directly in CMYK and the results are fine. (I'm not a schooled scanoperator nor a printexpert so there could be different opinions about this matter).
The shadowparts are well balanced and I only had noise in the deepest shadows which is probably due to the Dmax of 3.3 (3.4 through software-enhancement).
The overall sharpness of the scan was my only point of critisism, not that it was unsharp but it failed to have that last bit of "crispyness".
The new Duoscan models offer greater Dmax and more ppi's.
