Strength:

Scannerprogram Scanwizzard is not easy but when you used it more often it is very well to control your images perfectly before you make the final scan. The Silverfast is easyer to handle but I can very well see difference in scanquality between them.
Very good D-max wich gives a lot of detail in highlights and shadows.
Batchscanning-possibility is easy to work with.Resolution is high enough for most work I do except for 35 mm.Therefor I also bought the 4000 T. Separate device for negativescans without Newtonrings.
This was one of the most important reasons for choosing this scanner together with the D-max, the scannerprogram and the price.Negative holders are very easy to operate and are very well constructed and keep the film nearly flat without damage. Delivered very complete with SCSI -device and a good manual.

Weakness:

Very anoying loud clicking sounds every time you switch it on.
Sounds like parts breaking off inside.
The manual says this is normal so I've got to live with it.
I really hate to cut all of my 6x6 and 6x8 negatives before they fit into the 6x9 holder.
I wish there was a solution for this problem cause my lab has trouble with printing my cut loose negatives. So if anyone can give me some good advise in this....
The glass holder is not an option because of te rings so a holder for mid-size negative strips would be more than welcome to me.

Very good scanner for critical users who also want a good scan from mid-format film or larger without Newtonrings. Remember, this is a mid-end scanner so the price is ok and it gives you an good quality for it.
