Agfa APX 100 Black and White Film

Agfa APX 100 Black and White Film

DESCRIPTION

APX 100 is universally suitable for all professional applications. Thanks to its fine grain and wide range of exposure, it produces striking images with excellent sharpness and contrast. The strengths of APX 100 are apparent in diverse fields: architecture, landscape, documentation and still-life. Films from the AgfaPhoto APX range are professional black-and-white films with high resolution and fine grain. They meet every requirement for precisely detailed documentation or stills of high aesthetic quality. But AgfaPhoto APX also expressively reproduces scenes of rapid action or moments of quiet. The arguments for this film are convincing: an even image on homogeneous surfaces, extremely sharp outlines, no breaks in critical areas of the motif, flexible speed and contrast, exemplary grey balance.

Strength:

Crisp negatives with even contrast/easy to locate.

Weakness:

I love Agfa APX-100. Ever since I tried this film, I have been a big fan of the "look" that their film produces; even contrast and very sharp images for a 100 speed film. Too bad they don''t make APX-25 anymore...

Strength:

Very fine grain. Nice contrast range. Great documentary type look.

Weakness:

Can't think of one...

A great film for documentary type photos, or photojournalism. Most of my favorite black and white photos I've taken are with APX 100.

Strength:

its a great film for black and whit photo's.
It picks up shadows and details well and is great for contrasts of light. When i used it, it picked up the features of people well as well as it is very easy to develop and the negative turn out pretty well.

Weakness:

sometimes the film can blur if you move even the slightest cm. Negatives can turn out grainy sometimes.

cheap film that works well for anything that i want to photograph...

This film can capture very subtle details in subjects. If you like lots of detail this film can produce beautiful prints, even when the negative is enlarged many times. I have an 8x10 print of a tree frog the size of my lttle finger - you can clearly see the folds of skin and the frog's blood vessels!

Strength:

Low Cost, T-Max 100 is 4 times costlier than APX100 in India. Fine Grain high sharpness, robust.

Weakness:

Very High contrast. Highlight portion tends to scatter when developed in D76 1:1 for 12min at 20 Deg C.

AGFA developer is not available with the film in India. It creates problem to extract the best combination. Response from AGFA Germany is not clear regarding this problem.

Customer Service

Very poor in India. It seems Bayer is not interested to do business in this big market.

What more can you ask of a B&W film. Good Contrast, fine grain make it perfect for enlarging. Price is around that of other B&W films but Agfapan produces better results. I use this film for photo class and it works fine with the developer we are provided.
