Strength:

Excellent colors, saturated without being gaudy or shifted. Captures fine details beautifully. Very easy to scan.

Weakness:

Much too expensive.

I have always used slide film for outdoor/nature shots. This print film does an excellent job with these subjects and, in tricky light, a much better job. This is the first print film I can actually be happy using.

Strength:

Generally good skin tones, with colours that are lively without being overstated

Weakness:

Way too freakin' expensive here in Toronto (CAD10 or more per roll); sometimes overemphasizes blue.

This is the film I use for people pictures (unless I need more speed).

Customer Service

I've never called them.

Strength:

Because its the only 4x5 color negative film Kodak makes.

Weakness:

Yes. It sucks.

I want my Pro 100 back dammit!!! Otherwise if you shoot 4x5 like me its Agfa Optima 100 or nothing!!

Strength:

Excellent indoors. Color saturation - especially skin tones - just right. Good contrast. Very good outdoors - under sunny skies - color saturation deep without being garish.

Weakness:

Little bit of grain in overcast sky shots.

I alternate between this and Reala as my favorite negative film. Portra 160 VC is truly fantastic on skin tones.

Customer Service

Never had to use it.

Strength:

Simply put, the best film for portrait out there. I have pushed prints of 20x24 out of this just to see what it can do on a 35mm. My goodness it can make me look like God. The flesh was creamy (a touch overstated so was flatering but not obvious) and the rest of the sceen was the rich.

Weakness:

NONE.

This combined with the 400 can make and joe look like a pro!!! (HAHAHA I pulled a funny)

Strength:

Very fine grain, great saturation, bright and vivid. Enlarges nicely.

Weakness:

None.

Have only shot 4 rolls of hot air balloons. When used with a polarizer provided fantastic results! Deep blue skies...extremely sharp and balanced. A little pricey unless you shop around.

Strength:

As the name implies this is a portrait film, it isn't for landscape or product photography. I have tried to replace it with Fuji Reala for cost reasons, but this film is much better than Reala outdoors, and yes, its worth the extra money. It the best outdoor portrait film I have ever used.

Weakness:

Hey Kodak, give me a break! I love this film but it costs nearly twice as much as Reala. However, I do have to admit its worth the extra money

If you buy five rolls for film and it last a couple months, and you photograph everything from chipmunks at the park to your grandson's 5th birthday, this isn't a good choice of film for you. If you need a good outdoor people film with nice color saturation and good contrast, this is an excellent choice.

Strength:

Soft colours, good color for flesh but I think it is too soft for me.

Weakness:

Too soft colours.
Grainy compared to FUJI.

Some people say that AGFA 100 optima is good , I have to try that.
Kodak is a huge company who knovs how to make
promotion for them selves. But they can´t make good films ! Either the Kodak film is too grainy or it´s to much colour. Nothing that suits me !

Strength:

Good colour saturation without going over board. Very tight grain. Handles skin tones well indoors and out. Especially good indoors with or without flash. Skin tones glow in outdoor portraits with fill flash.

Weakness:

Price, worth the dinero though. Local labs have a hard time filtering out the cyan cast. Very heavy cyan cast when scanning, needs a fair amount of adjusting when scanning negs.

I used to hate print film until I shot this film (along with the NC). Now I just love this stuff. I shoot it everywhere and for everything (well almost). I've tried the Fuji NPS and NPC also, but the colour saturation is slightly better with Portra.
