Strength:

Speed, grain.
Interesting color rendering.

Weakness:

Interesting color rendering -- can have painted quality (or sickly depending on your perspective and the composition).
Not happy with strong daylight shots.

Shot 2 rolls of this on different days outdoors. Interesting rendering of color especially in the greens -- grass looked artificial, other colors looked a bit bleached. Pink came out vibrant(?). Printed on matte paper, some of the shots looked outstanding; the colors can have a very nice painted quality. However, most of the shots, especially the ones in fairly strong daylight, look awful. The whites look blown out on the white end, even when I exposed for the brightest part of the image.

Bottom line: IMO this is a terrible everyday film. BUT, it has great specialty film characteristics, to be used for the beautiful, almost surreal painted quality. Try it on lush outdoor compositions that don't have any extremely bright areas or sun reflections. This stock takes a few rolls to get used to.

Strength:

Very fine grained film.
Sharp, with realistic renditions. Negatives are really tough and hard to scratch.

Weakness:

None really.

This is a really excellent film, similar to Royal Gold. It is very fine grained with a pleasing pattern. I've used it for 8x10 enlargements with excellent results. This is my 400 speed film of preference now, which I use for a wide range of applications.

Strength:

- speed
- not too grainy for a 400 speed film
- cheap (relatively speaking)

Weakness:

- generally not good for outdoor shots; blows out the light colors
- too d*** red.

I think this is not really a 400-speed film. Rated at EI 400 everything is red! even white has red cast! This will probably be corrected by setting the EI at 250 or something.

for outdoor shots...forget it! light colors becomes almost unrecognizeable...

i know this could be a printer problem. but i never had this problem with NPH...

once i finish my rolls of supra (i can't believe how stupid i am to buy 20 rolls without testing it first!), i'm switching back to NPH.

if you really love reds, and like cheap film.......ahh...who am i kidding? this film sucks.

Strength:

Fine grain. Great all purpose film.

Weakness:

Can at times be washed out in bright sunlight. That only happens when I am forced to shoot at bat times of the day. When I am careful with my lighting Supra performs well. No film looks very good in midday lighting situations unless you are shooting close-ups.

This is an excellent all purpose film. I have used in many situations (sports, nature, portraiture) with excellent results. It may be too contrasty for certain portrait situations. I am confused about the gentleman who commented on Supra not identifying purple. Just two weeks ago I shot a butterfly resting on a deep purple flower. The prints were beautiful - the flowers came out a vibrant purple. I have been very pleased with the flexibility of this film and the fine grain to boot. Besides that, it is very inexpensive
