    Strength:

nice color balance, not too saturated. I like it for still life work.

    Weakness:

Well, again, it's not too saturated! For that I use Velvia

Great film, taking into account that most people at whom films like this are aimed are looking for particular results. It delivers what it promises.

    Strength:

Dead-bang color accuracy outdoors under any daylight conditions.

    Quite high resolution.

    Excellent shadow and highlight details.

    Slightly forgiving on exposure latitude.

    E6 processing.

    Weakness:

    Not stocked locally.

I prefer the processed image to be as close to what came thru the lens as possible. I am an accuracy nut! You can manipulate later to get unreal effects, if needed, but it is much harder if not impossible to recreate the actual scene from one of the bogus overly-saturated films.

    Strength:

    Very neutral colours - accurate.
Holds shadow detail very well compared to Sensia & Velvia.
Is great for long exposures - reciprocity adjustment isn't really necessary for a shutter speed up to about 8 seconds.
Pushes very well - I've rated to 400ISO and Astia yields a cleaner, smoother and less contrasty result than Sensia or Velvia.

    Weakness:

Can't really fault it - I only use other films if I want heavy saturation.
Sensia is just as good for some types of (accurate colour) images and is cheaper.
It's a pro film - keep refrigerated, use and process quickly. Not best kept in the camera for long periods.

The best all-rounder I've found - always some in the fridge (and camera bag).

If you are a photographer who loves very realistic colors, this film will be your best bet. I read a lot of reviews about this Fuji Astia. It seems like everyone tends to use this film exclusively for potraits. I had a chance to shoot several rolls of these films for landscape pictures. The results were excellent. The film records yellows, blues, and pastels very very well. The white is almost perfect. Grains are very smooth. This film is less contrasty than other ISO 100 slide films. I made direct prints out of this film, and the results were excellent. For landscape shooters, try this film on your next trip. You'll be impressed with the quality of this slide film.

    Weakness:

    None

There is no doubt that this film is designed to give realistic and accurate colors. It's been the best slide film for potrait. However, we will miss something if we never try this film for outdoor shootings.

Astia must be the studio photographer´s dream - great skin tones, fine grain, nice contrast. But for nature/outdoors, I found it a bit lackluster. Maybe I was just spoiled by Provia´s awesome snap. Exposure is flexible - I pushed 1 stop without any loss of quality, and perhaps an additional stop would´ve been OK too.

Beautiful, natural colors, fine grain, sharpness. Excellent price.

My favorite slide film for the past year. I shoot many closeup flower pictures, and I prefer Astia to the more saturated films because of the natural colors, fine grain and sharpness. A real winner!

    Strength:

I like Astia's soft tonality for rural scenes. It doesn't have the "pop" of some of the other havily saturated films ... but it does offer good color rendition throughout the spectrum & will give you great images ... & handles shadow areas well.

    Weakness:

Other than having a little less saturation than some films ... it is hard to beat in many situations.

If you've never tried it ... you really ought to. Give it a try in late afternoon light ... on a beach ... for warm, golden tones. Or, try it on a rural scene where you don't want as much harshness in your image. I believe you'll be pleased.

Very clean film with neutral color rendition and excellent latitude for a slide film.

    Weakness:

I've shot a lot of slide film over the years, and this has become my favorite. I drum scan my best images, and the results off Astia are stunning. I like the ability to retain highlight and shadow detail this film gives me. It is not as warm a film as Velvia (thankfully) or E100SW, and retains better shadow detail than E100S.

    Strength:

Astia has the best latitude of all slide film. What truly impresses me is it's faithful color rendition. I'm not a fan of the uber-saturated cotton candy look of films such as Velvia and E100VS. Normally I shoot B&W, but when I do shoot color this is my film.

    Weakness:

None, unless you're a pinhead disciple of the uber-saturated look.

Get this film, death to uber-saturated films and photos! Astia is the KING of all slide films.
