Strength:

Great color even on clouded condition. Fine grain.

Weakness:

None.

There are a lot said by many people on this board. I have been using Velvia for a little over a year. I absolutely love this film. I love the warmth of this film, isn´t it Moose Peterson´s idea to have a warm filter any way? I shoot many rolls of this film now and color rendition is great and one can not see much of the grains even projected to 40x. If light condition is right, say sunset, this film can bring wonders to your photos. For any one out there saying the film is expensive, buy bulk roll and wind yourself. Go Ebay for good deals.

Strength:

Color Contrast Detail Sharpness

Weakness:

Slow speed (If your shooting a moving Subject)

This is currently my best film. The color saturation may be too much for some but I personally love it. Greens and blues just "Pop" off the light table. I would recommend this film to anyone who dosen''t shoot Portaits(skin tone is very reddish.) The grain is probably not as fine as one might expect but I personally like the way the grain enhances the photographs I have taken with it.

Strength:

It is very good at what it was intended to do. All colours are saturated equally and consistently, unlike 100VS which only boosts certain colours and does so in an almost animated cartoon way. Velvia does however do a better job with greens than with the other colours.

Weakness:

It has a slight cyan colour cast and is not at its best when exposed at its rated ISO50 (try it at 40)

This is a superb film for its intended purpose. No, the colours are not 100% natural, and yes it is a slow film with a narrow exposure latitude. But by comparison a Ferrari is not good at inching along in rush hour traffic and it is not an economical car to run. And neither is it cheap. However on the open road and in tight turns it is a dream. Either way, not many would call it a P.O.S and keep a straight face. Just as when you want punchy, intense colours with exceptional sharpness, Velvia is wonderful. For landscapes nothing really comes close. Just make sure you use high quality filters or else you may not get the colours you wanted.

Strength:

- Very fine grain

Weakness:

- Sensibility to low - Not a real 50 ISO(must be exposed at 40) - Unreal color rendition - Too much greenich/yellow

It may good for some subjects in particular, but not for all. I have some difficulties to understand those who use it for all find of situations. Is low sensibility dont give us the versatily we need. This film dont give unanimous, that''s why you need to test it by yourself to make your own idea on it.

Strength:

My sharpest pictures comes from this film.

Weakness:

Low speed. Bad skintones. Terrible contrast.

The reason why I don''''t like velvia it''''s that it''''s awful in contrasty scenes. Not versatile at all.

Strength:

great color

Weakness:

exposure. if the bottom of print is in right exposure the top will not. this is b/c of fuji as kodak slide films do not have this flaw

Not as good as advertised. great color. overexposed a lot very easily so it can not be used for landscapes with non telephoto lenses> the sky ends up dull because of overexposure.

Strength:

Vivid color and very fine grain.

Weakness:

price.

I have seen so many complaints about that this film has a narrow exposure latitute and "unnatural" vivid color. It''s like someone getting salt in the grocery store and complain that the salt is too salty and it desolves in water.... Fuji makes this film because of the vivid color. Slide film by nature has a relatively narrow exposure latitude. These are the upfront facts about this film. For me this is one very nice slow slide film that produce very vivid color (yet more natural than E100VS). Perfect for landscape. I usually couple this film with a polarizer for landscape for contrast.

Strength:

Fine if you want vivid colors. Although I would usually pick Ektachrome 100 VS if I want vivid.

Weakness:

I don''t think the grain is all that fine. I''d trade in it for Kodachrome 25 or 64 any day.

Velvia seems to have a narrow exposure latitude, which if not correct, gives poor results. Yes, it has vivid colors, but usually looks unnatural.
