Konica Minolta Chrome R-100 Slide Film

Konica Minolta Chrome R-100 Slide Film

DESCRIPTION

This is the only slide film available based on Konica's exclusive emulsion technology for achieving finer grain without sacrificing speed. Detail in both highlights and shadows is registered with precision. True-to-life color reproduction and rich gradiation allow for very authentic imaging. Color balance remains stable even under adverse exposure or processing condiditons.

Strength:

Sharp, relatively fine grain, inexpensive.

Weakness:

Film had a very subtle yellowish-green cast, which was more noticable in dark shadow areas.

I purchased a few rolls of R100 for 99 cents each. They were short dated (but not yet expired). Basically I would buy this film again if I was desperate and needed a dirt-cheap slide film.

Strength:

Cheap. White clour is nice. Very natural.

Weakness:

Black colour is not good.

I used about 10 rolls of them. I was not satisfies with the results. I sent them to Fuji ProLab, Kodak Prolab, and Konica Prolab to see the difference. Actually, Fuji Prolab was the worst for this film and Konica and the Kodak were almost the same. I also used Konica Sinra 100 High Grade slide film and it is better than R-100. Now they have Sinbi 100 & 200 but I have not tried them yet. They say they are much better than before. Well, the weakest point of this film is that its black colour is not really black. It is greynish black.

Strength:

slightly cheaper than Kodak/Fuji/Agfa counterparts
good skin tones
natural colors

Weakness:

grainier than Fuji/Kodak 100 ASA slide films

although I consider this film to be good I prefer Fuji and Kodak 100 ASA slide films - they are less grainy, sharper and with clearer colors.

Strength:

* Quite inexpensive
* Quite sharp
* Colours free from colour cast but...

Weakness:

* Bland colours, a bit "grey" and boring.
* More grain than the competition

I shoot a couple of rolls, but the result didn't impress on me. This film feels old.
Agfa RSX is a better choice for those wanting natural, neutral colours.

Strength:

This film made by Konica is very good. Not as flashy colours as Fuji Velvia, and not as "true" colors as Kodachrome 64, but for this speed and price, You get a good performer.

Weakness:

As descripted before...

A good and useful allround slide film. There are better around if You like vivid colours and super sharp grain.
