This bracket is expensive but I believe it is definitely worth the price of admission. I do extensive event photography and probably 70-80% of my shots are in portrait orientation so a bracket is a must. I previously used a Stroboframe QuickFlip 120 for most of my shooting. I liked the Stroboframe but I found it has three shortcomings for my particular setup and shooting style. First and foremost, the vertical grip on my camera was useless in portrait orientation. The vertical controls were at the bottom of the camera and were unusable. The QRS address this by rotating the camera so that the vertical grip is in the upright position. Second, I use the Lumiquest Promax bounce system. With flip type brackets, bouncing a flash is not possible because the flash is oriented horizontally. Finally (and this is purely style related), flip type brackets are basically limited to portrait and landscape orientation without introducing harch shadows into your photos. Any camera rotation type bracket could resolve these issues. I chose the Custom Brackets model because of its build quality and extensibility. This bracket could be used with any MF or 35mm type camera by simply attaching a different mounting plate. Because of the price, this may not be for everyone, but if you shoot a lot of hand held portrait shots, I couldn't think of a better product. Please note that the price I paid included the bracket, camera mount and flash mount. The bracket is compatible with Metz flashes out of the box so you could potentially save $25.

    Strength:

    Sturdy,very well engineered, quality product.

    Weakness:

Expensive, had problems getting accessory plates etc for awhile.

The best flash bracket I have used. I have one for my medium format camera and one for my 35mm camera and am very pleased with both.
