Westcott Spiderlight 3-light Window Kit.

I bought this product after watching a testimonial web video. I ordered from B&H. What I received was $1900 worth of junk (not B&H's fault). The "heavy duty" light stands that come with the kit are anything but heavy duty. One of the stands I received had a broken knob before I even touched it. This is Made-in-China junk.

The Spiderlight units are cheaply made and were partially broken right out of the box - lots of rattling inside and pieces of stuff falling out. The wheels on the storage case were cheap plastic and both were broken during shipping. Worst of all, I had to pay over $50 to have this junk shipped to me and $150 to ship it back. Again, not B&H's fault. It's just that individuals don't get the shipping discounts from UPS that the big boys do. What did I learn? Don't buy Westcott lights. Don't buy Westcott anything.

Strength:

Softbox in a pocket!
Cost-effective and built to last
More aesthetically pleasing than a "Big-Bounce"-type attachment.

Weakness:

Blocks IR beam of most flashes.
An internal buffer/diffusion panel would make it even more effective.

Well-designed, quality-built mini-softbox for shoe or handle mounted flashes. Softens shawdows and skin impecfections (portrait) very well. Mine is permanently attached to a handle mounted Metz and delivers fantastic results everytime. Can't imagine using a flash without it!

Strength:

Great to use with only aboun one and a half f stops.

Weakness:

NONE!

A very good flash difusser. Renders nice skin tones and mixes well with sunlight. Note: will not get rid of shadows 100%, a subject standing in front of a white background will still show shadows on the background. So angle flash accordingly.

Strength:

It works!

Weakness:

Can obscure IR focus beam

Best £30.00 ($40.00) I ever spent on equipment - It works! I''d never be without one having used it on Vivitar 283, SB11 and 12 and now SB28. Buy one!
